A taste of Paris and Provence.

Photography and text by Corey Amaro

What do you love about France?

Paris and Provence are just two parts of it. Each region, city, village has its own personality. Though every part of France has beauty, baguettes, history, wine, cheese, fashion, culture….

  1. The Green, green countryside. The tree-lined roads, rivers and waterways. I loved the civic pride of the towns and villages.
The great forests and beautiful picnic spots.
I loved the beauty and quality in everything, I loved the food halls and supermarkets. I loved the buildings and shops. I loved looking and listening to the people. I loved the French, so polite, friendly and helpful.
I wish with all the wishes upon the stars that I can go back again,

  2. I love the romantic sound of the language, and the ancient history shown in every aspect of French culture…the food, the brocante, the style (both couture and home decor.) America feels like a precocious child to me, while France feels like a beloved and wise grandparent.

  3. My mom and I stayed in the Hotel de Nord the very first time we went to Paris. I love the beautiful architechture and the pastries.

  4. As soon as I met my French friend, Jacqueline, I knew she would answer all my questions I had about France.
She would go home to France and bring me back linens that were in her family and no one wanted. I could not believe my luck. I kept repeating, are you sure?
One day I will be able to type more, after I finally get to France. SIGH

  5. Having never visited, I merely revel in the “thoughts” of Paris and Provence (and Burgundy and Loire and . . . ). It is enough for now . . . until [fingers crossed] . . . some day . . . I hope.

    The colors and the history..

  7. Right now, I love everything about France. Because it’s not Minnesota, it’s not 35 degrees cold, it’s not covered in 12″ of fresh snow and there’s not a Subway restaurant on every corner. (Cabin fever already, and it’s only the middle of November…it’s going to be a long winter)
Oh, for a real chocolat chaud and baguette right now in a charming little cafe…

  8. The face on the building is fantastic, it would be interesting to live behind the lips though. My favorite thing about France is the focus on life, enjoying the journey from start to finish. The cheese is also tasty.

  9. What do I love about France?
The courage and self-confidence it has given my daughters. The vision it has given to me.
Knowing the true meaning of “the grass is always greener”…for we all believe that it truly IS greener in Provence.

  10. Style and beauty wherever you look. How the French understand quality of life, appreciate their history and bring an aesthetic sense to the most everyday activities.
How nice to see some of my favourite Paris addresses here! I posted mine here:

  11. In Paris I love my sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews and nieces and their children.
I love the old buildings, I love the architectural surprises around every corner. I love the food, the fashion and the style of Parisians. I love the accent of Parisians.
I love how easy it is to navigate the metro with only Australian school girl French to get me around.
I love all the memories I have of Paris, even the sad ones.

  12. I have surrounded myself with French brocante treasures. I think about being there everyday, and look forward to the day when I will have a house there!

  13. well, the way you present it, Corey, there is nothing NOT to love about France and/or Paris. In my own personal experience, I can say that every time in my life I visited France as a traveller, a tourist or visitor, I was treated kindly, friendly, courteously, and I always defended the country and the people when somebody was negative about anything/anybody here.
Since I live in France (now nearly three years) I have lived through so many hassles and problems, but I came through the tunnels and labyrinths of French Administration, (although there still are and probably will be mysteries and unanswered questions even after I shall have left this country for the next…) – so to me it’s not just beauty, plain sailing and hurrah…
Your photos are so beautiful; your writing is so beguiling, I just don’t know when you take the time to do it…. And I always think that I am busy!!! 🙂

  14. What I ADORE about Paris is the fantastic, daring, mind-blowing and sometimes utterly futuristic architecture…., then the zillions of fountains, little parks and corners, the outdoor-cafés, the possibility to eat outside the resto in November (done it!), the markets on Sunday…., the fresh bread (and I am not talking ‘just’ baguette) at nearly every hour of the day, the variety of really, really good wines!
I wouldn’t want to give the impression that I am negative (see my former post) – I am truly thankful for all the good and lovely things in my French Life; because I am happy wherever I am when I am with my Hero Husband….

  15. I SO desire to come to France and shop for my shop, and myself and everyone!
