What Came First the Chicken or the Egg?

Wine and menu

French Husband and I were going out for lunch when we saw two-apron-wearing- mannequins standing outside on a knicky-knacky shop. I asked French Husband which one he liked better, for no other reason than just to strike up chatter. He said he prefere one with a tomato on it. I asked, "And where is the one with a tomato?  in which he replied, "I am vegetarian remember, these aprons are prejudice." Then he laughed at his own joke.

Pig apron

The first apron at the shop:

1) A pig pink with a fork and knife, and a cute little grin. Above his head it says,

"Faim" which means hungry.

Chicken apron

 The second apron.

2) "Poule a la creme" Chicken with Cream. The chicken has a hand on the pot, and a hand on his side, and is dressed like a rooster.

I said to French Husband, "The pig is happy, the rooster is happy and the chicken is creamed."

Then we went out to lunch and had fish.

  1. “Friends don’t let friends eat piggies,” that’s what my apron would read. I don’t hang out near the fish aisle either, but chickens….mmmm, chicken à la crème!
The chickens came before the eggs.
    Happy weekend!

  2. I’d take the cook behind any apron. Pig, chicken, fish…. even tofu.

  3. Where can I buy one of those aprons?
Did you find one you liked? Maybe with a fish?

  5. lol, The chicken as a rooster, would not have caught that detail if you hadn’t pointed it out.

  6. Corey, a French with a sense of humour?! You REALLY pulled that winning lot!
Hope your fish was nice – what an uplifting post!!! Love that creamed chicken…. 🙂

  7. Fish is healthier!! Wonder what a fish apron would have on it? “Fish swimming in wine”…lol!

I liked the pink pig………it reminded me of Halloween in Willows.

  9. I thought it was the omelette pan that came first, hence the use of the egg therefore the need of the chicken.

  10. Corey, this reminds me of the Portuguese organization “Amigos do Bacalhau” (Friends of the Cod), whose members gather every month or so for bacalhau dinner and to praise the fish in question (often in poetry). I pointed out to a buddy who belongs that if they were TRULY amigos of the cod, they wouldn’t be eating their finny friend!!!

Crème de la crème! Though that would be difficult to illustrate on an apron.

  12. I have that Chicken Apron, My Daughter sent it to me from France. I love it.
