Self Portrait

Self Portrait

Sacha was in San Francisco visiting Chelsea. When she went to class he took the bus to the Golden Gate Bridge, hiked to a point alongside the bridge, set up his camera and took a self portrait for his yearbook/graduation photo.

Isn't it fantastic!

I wonder how many times he had to jump to get it just right?

Self portrait… confident, happy, loving it.

    Like mother, like son,
    great talent, both.

  2. I can not believe he did it by himself. It is fabulous. He is an artist like his mum. My sister had her baby , his name is Simon

  3. Wow! Excellent pic! So, he’s going to H.S. in the states? That’s great!

  4. What a phenomenal shot! He has his mother’s artistic eye as well as his father’s daredevilness!

    This world needs it!

  8. A very happy boy!

  9. Having lived in the Bay Area since 1966, I have seen many a photo of this bridge. This is the most creative rendition I have ever seen.
I have been a lurker for a number of months now, but this photo brought me out of the shadows. It’s great to see your carefree spirit reflected in your children. Well done!

  10. Wow! Such determination to get a shot, not to mention talent and a good eye for the camera, whichever end the eye is on. I’m impressed on so many fronts. Thank you for sharing.

  11. What fun! A creative kid, for sure and beaming with self-confidence.

  12. Great shot! It’s been fun watching him grow up over the years… he is such a handsome man, taking after his parents. I can tell by the eyes,
    kind, carefree, loving life!

  25. All those great motorcycle jumps have given him some graceful moves! Or maybe it’s the other way around.

  26. Yes, such a geat photo. And what seems to evident, knowing what dear things you have shared about yourself, and your family it his joy. I am sure it warms your heart to see his exuberance for life.

  27. Awesome! It sure beats the turn-your-head and put-your-finger-on-your-cheek portraits in MY high school yearbook!

  28. Gorgeous! One of the best things in the world is having happy kids, going out and loving the world!

  29. Incredible shot! He must have been totally surprised when he checked his camera and captured such a great shot. . .and, so handsome! . . .now, I think you & S should give camera classes!!! where do I sign up??

  30. All of a sudden he looks grown up to me. Where is that young boy look he seemed to have a few months ago? I’m sure you must be asking yourself the same thing. LOVE his photo and the story about taking it. The joy is radiating right out of the image. Are you afraid he is never going to want to leave?

  31. those were my first thoughts too – Sacha has inherited your eye for detail / creativity that we see in your photography. Thats what a portrait should do – portray the life ( in all sense of the word ) of the subject and Sacha knew how to express that.

  32. So Cool!
He has totally captured his spirit!

  33. Corey, if you didn’t tell us that Sacha was indeed visiting SF, I would assume that he photoshopped himself into the GG bridge background ! ๐Ÿ™‚ It looks so unreal! ๐Ÿ™‚

sacha is a genus. that will be one of a kind photo. he is so clever and artistic. Bestest,Denise

  35. Handsome looking like a dancer…you must be so proud of how he
has turned out…I doubt that most boys would have the confidence to do such a photo. He is listening to his own song.

  36. Amazing photo, amazing son you have. You should be so proud. He is also very creative to think to take a picture like that for the yearbook. I just love it!

  37. Sacha is a dancer isn’t he?
If he isn’t he should be.
    What style.
His photo looks like a layout for a magazine!

  38. Awesome

  39. …if only I were sixteen….

  40. He has matured! Beautiful photo that tells of confidence in th future and joie de vivre.
    I would frame it…

  41. Wow!!!!!!! Such Joy! Thanks for sharing.

  42. Great photo! He is following in your footsteps ๐Ÿ™‚ Or, I guess, no ones, as his feet are not on the ground! Are they ever?

  43. It’s awesome! Blessings, Kimberly

  44. wonderful photo, beautifully done! sacha is a film star at both sides of the camera at the same time.
as a former yearbook editor, i hated all those ‘dead’ shots we had back then, and the photographer with no soul.

    This picture is great !!!
Instead of repeating his jumps, Sacha might have used Photoshop !!!
    (Has he told you ???)
His school will remember him, for sure !!! The spring-loaded guy !!!

  46. Wow! That boy is becoming one handsome young man. He looks like he is thriving during his stay with your family and totally enjoying the Northern Cal experience.

  51. It catches him right in the midst of living life to the fullest.

  52. I love it! He showed it to me the other day and the other ones he took. He said he had to jump off a table!! ๐Ÿ™‚
