Dusting a Go-Go

Img_7336

Marie-Noelle, my French friend who I met while blogging years ago, sent me this old TV commercial about dusting.

French Husband look out, here I come, ready or not!

But then again, after watching the above video… I noticed she doesn't have a chandelier….

Then again I think her yellow pinafore isn't a appealing as a white pinafore with black stockings.

Maybe her husband isn't fooled by her ploy.

What part of housework do you detest, and what part do you not mind?

As for me ironing is not my favorite. Though I do not mind doing dishes by hand. And I wouldn't mind dusting a go-go like the French maid.

  1. In all my life I only have had a dishwasher while living in the States. Not a favorite appliance of mine either, so doing the dishes by hand I don’t mind.
I like the feeling I get after cleaning my home since I was a girl and did weekly thorough cleaning at my childhood home.

  2. I hate cleaning the bathrooms…yuk…

  3. LOL! She wasn’t smiling, had she been smiling the chandelier would already be hers. Go for it girl, you only live once.
I dislike ironing as well, and dusting blinds, I’m going to break them. I like doing dishes and laundry, of course I haven’t had a toddler yet. All my friends with toddlers hate laundry.

  4. Windows. We have too many and they are too large.

  5. While living in Japan, we didn’t have a garbage disposal or a dishwasher. The little basket that sat inside the drain (as a garbage disposal) was yuuuuuuckkkkky! Also, blinds and bathrooms would rank high!~

  6. I don’t like any of it.

  7. I don’t mind doing the dishes either, don’t even mind dusting. Don’t like windows or floors. Also I hate making the bed, luckily my husband likes to do that one 🙂

  8. Like you, I like to do the dishes by hand. I don’t like to do the floors, but now that we have this shedding dog, I kind of have to vacuum every pther day or else our guests would have fur balls stuck to their feet.

  9. I love to iron and do dishes by hand. I don’t mind dusting. I do not do windows or toilets.. quite simple. LOL

  10. Marie-Noëlle

Corey, I think some of your photos need a big dusting !!!
I hate ironing and house cleaning on a whole.
I do not mind pressing the button of a washing machine or of a dish washer though… and I can clean the windows when the sun’s bright and warm too.

  11. I like to clean the kitchen, even though it has been torn apart during a whole house remodeling process that has stretched on for the last eight years! Hate bathrooms & toilets, my boy’s bedrooms (weird things grow under their carpets!), and the garage. All and all, too much space and too much stuff . . .

  12. No ironing at my house! Been there..done that for hubby years ago. Let the cleaners wash/iron/starch those shirts! Don’t even own an ironing board 😉 Now, those toilets…ugh! I clean the one in MY bathroom; hubby cleans his toilet and the one downstairs. Years ago hubby agreed to help me clean if I gave up the cleaning lady who came every two weeks (he’s always trying to save a dollar). Hubby vacumns and I dust; hubby does his laundry and I do mine + linens/towels. Now those window blinds…well, I give ’em a cleaning about 4 times a year…lol! Oh, and I load/unload the dishwasher. See…teamwork is what it’s all about 😉

  13. I’m with Bev, don’t like any of it!

  14. Cute video!
I don’t mind doing most jobs. What I do mind is having to do most of it without help from my three otherwise occupied roommates!
To be honest, I don’t relish washing pots with a lot of food stuck on!

  15. Cleaning the fridg and oven. The worst.
I also don’t like whiping down Kit. cabnets.
    Love my dish washer. yvonne

  16. I don’t mind most cleaning chores because I like a clean house (especially a clean kitchen). My least favorite are probably cleaning the oven (which is a once-in-awhile chore) and keeping the kitchen floor clean (which seems like an endless chore).
Loved the commercial; thank you for sharing it Marie-Noelle!

  17. I love to vacuum…..mostly because my husband does that. Yeah, I know, I’m spoiled.

  18. …love all things laundry (ironing included). No dishwasher for us – all by hand. Vacuuming is also satisfying. Children’s rooms are a bit on the nightmare spectrum… too much chaos, too little space to remain as organised as I would like. But these years are few in the grand scheme of things so not worth fretting about – best to enjoy the fun that emerges from the fray! j

  19. That was for Pledge. A similar ad ran on tv when I was a kid I don’t mind any household chores. Hate painting walls and outside chores of mowing and weeding.

When I was little my grandmother lived with us. She hated dusting so that became MY job! Now I hate it too!
I don’t mind cooking, ironing, vacuuming, washing/folding clothes/towels/sheets, loading/unloading the dishwasher but dusting is OUT! I only do it when I absolutly HAVE to.
    And I mean HAVE to!

  21. I could do laundry all day long. It reminds me of time spent with my Grandma, smelling the fresh clothes come off the line, ironing Grandpa’s handkerchiefs, hearing the comforting roar of the dryer.
I hate dusting. But not as much as I HATE cleaning out the litter boxes.

  22. That commercial is a riot! Reminds me of a scene in a silent comedy film we have. What a great way to dust a table 🙂

  23. I love a spotless house but I hate cleaning, almost all of it. I hate laundry too but I can relax ironing. I like the results and the mind is free to wander, Jx

  24. Actually don’t mind any of it other than cleaning the blinds. I like a clean house.

  25. Don’t mind doing the dishes by hand or ironing or laundry, but I do hate vacuuming (thank God for my husband who does it, guess he loves the sound of the machine). One of my favourite smells is that of the laundry dried by sun and summer wind.

  26. I agree with Amy K. I love the relaxing rhythm of laundry. Hand or machine. Ironing you bet. Love to vacume. I DO NOT LIKE TO DUST. I am not good at windows which is why I do not like to do them. If I could perfect windows, I would enjoy them as well. Love to polish silver and wash crystal. So much satisfaction in the end result.

  27. I do not want to clean the refrigerator, which I need to do.

  28. I don’t mind dishes and vacuuming. I loathe making beds probably because my father was military. Dusting I don’t mind either. When I was little I used to visit my grandmother every weekend and would always dust this one bedroom set in particular. She thought it was the furniture I loved so much and thus that set is still mine today. But along with inheriting the furniture came the real treasure of all the hand embroidered dresser cloths and crocheted doilies in the bottom drawer of the dresser. 😉

  29. I hate housework, my husband hates housework and our cleaning lady loves having regular clients. We are all happy – still have dishes, laundry, shopping, cooking and being my daughter’s chauffeur to do!

  30. Oh, I have to share one more thing. Husband and I went to visit some antique shops a few weeks ago before the snowpocalypse hit Oklahoma. We walked into one shop and my eyes misted over almost immediately. The shop smelled just like my Grandma’s home. Isn’t it funny how our senses hold memories like that even 27 years after our loved one is gone? That particular shop can look forward to many more visits from misty eyed me.

  31. I don’t really mind the housework–what drives me nuts is not getting to it as often as I should. It ends up getting squeezed into a little time slot and I get stressed out. So, I just remind myself (constantly) that my little kids (and my own sanity) are more important than a clean and tidy house! Now, if I could just get someone to cook all our meals for us…

  32. my worst is dusting and ironing! we just have too much dust in AZ!
and ironing takes up too much time. I can think of more important things to do than iron. All that gets outsourced to the professional who do it better anyway.
    -Slavica

  33. I like to vacuum and change the bedsheets. Not a big duster, but the bathrooms are definately the worst for me. I have to really motivate myself with a reward to deep clean the bathrooms. I usually dust when I rearrange table venues which is often and fun.

  34. oh yes, the oven is awful, i forgot the oven!

  35. I let alot slide and am getting better at letting it go in my mind.
We don’t need to iron, unless there’s a very special occasion!
    Least fav: ironing, dusting, bathtub.
    We do dishes by hand.
    Husband does his laundry.

  36. Vacuuming…that darned, heavy, cumbersome machine,it’s like pulling a stubborn mule around the house!

  37. I’m right there with you on ironing! Don’t mind vacuuming, dusting and hand-washing dishes but hate cleaning the bathroom. I’d rather paint a house than clean the bathroom! LOL!

  38. That video made me laugh! I enjoy doing dishes by hand especially when it is cold and I can “play” in the hot soapy water but I dislike mopping terribly! Blessings, Kimberly

  39. I can’t say I’m much good at any of it and it shows. With a new puppy that is not housebroken, I am a slave to mopping and it’s starting to drive me crazy. Picking up a book on housebreaking today. Dusting seems reminds me of the movie “Groundhog Day”. Never ending repeat.

  40. Ironing and laundry, I do not mind; but cleaning especially the stove and bathroom I detest.

  41. Cleaning the kitchen – how a grown man can make such a mess is a mystery to me. OY – I have a relative that has two kitchens in their home, a dream come true.

  42. Dust makes me sneeze and the oven is a nightmare but the rest is kinda fun if I put the music on and invite someone over for tea so I have a deadline….

  43. Is there a part of housework TO like????

  44. What? Doesn’t everyone dust that way? LOL!!! Too funny.

  45. Trip to the attic~~Check~!!!!
