Views of the French Countryside

France views from the train

Views from the TGV train's window.

The French countryside flashed by.

Castles, bridges, towers, ….landscape that changes with the seasons.

As we rode along from the south of France to Paris the sun light poured through the clouds, giving us a spectacular show.

The land toiled, the trees beginning to bud, a hint of green, spring was calling in the air.

Thank you for the many imaginative "how I met you" stories. Holy cow are you guys good. Weaving in bits of blogs passed: I-beam, Dumpster Diving, Youth Group, the Monastery, Willows, Brocantes, Dancing…. impressive bunch you are. And again why do I do this to myself, picking one nugget is not as easy task when the pot is full of gold.

Jackie's story was utterly amazing. A scarf will come your way from China.

  1. Bon voyage, Corey and Yann!
Congratulations to Jackie, for her winning story!
I will write them all tomorrow, I am traveling myself at the moment.
I am looking forward to tell your readers about our first encounter, during Carnevale Season in Venice, when we both ended up in a piccolo Canale, due to both our eagerness to capture the scene! xxx

  2. P.S.:
I apologize, I wanted to say that I will READ all the stories tomorrow.

  3. Congrats Jackie! I love the 8th picture down, the sky is magnificent.

  4. Yippee! I am honored to be chosen by Corey-whose soul, I can tell, is that of an angel. Thank you so much. I will wear the scarf with joy, and pass it on to my (Chinese) daughter, along with the story and information about Tongue In Cheek. Who knows, someone may find the whole package in a Brocante one day!
    Thanks again,
    Jackie

  5. I loved Jackie’s story, too! Congratulations to Jackie, and to you, too, Corey for the blog entry and for prompting so many readers to respond. Someone else’s call for stories might have gone without many entries. My own entry was prompted by something you had written when you were visiting Texas, that you thought some of the readers were coming to meet not you, but French husband. Know that many readers across the world are charmed by your pictures and words, even those, like me, who hate shopping, and that we remember what you’re doing and writing. Thanks for all the fun reading all the stories.

  6. BESTEST choice Corey – congrats to Jackie; you deserve your Chinese scarf.
How on earth can you take such delicious pictures from a TGV; mine are always very ‘moving’… not always in a good way! A great collection and WELCOME BACK IN Paris – for a short while and before you leave for China.
    Bon voyage
    Je t’embrasse, Kiki

  7. Have a nice trip Corey and Yann
that was a nice story Jackie and congratulations for winning.
Can’t wait to see that scenery in person in April

  8. Beautiful way to start the day – with a cup of coffee and a train ride through the French countryside. Thanks Corey!

  9. Corey, just read the stories from yesterday . . .Jackie’s was incredible. Loved Brother Mat’s, made me smile have a younger bro myself. The photos from the train are inspirational. Have a wonderful time! xo

  10. Ooooh, now I can hardly wait for our trip to France this spring, including the train-ride between Paris and Provence!

  11. Thanks to you Corey, we’ve all been introduced to Jackie and her obvious talent. I want to read her book….does she have one in mind for future publication? You could be her photographer.

  12. Congratulations, Jackie! Wear the silk scarf with pride on a story well told. Happy Travels, Corey!

  13. I find it so interesting to see the countryside and little towns and the outskirts of cities from the passenger seat in a car or a train. You certainly live in a beautiful part of the world, Corey. Btw, upon first glance at the 6th photograph, I thought that your husband had hired a plane to fly your name across the sky!

  14. Oh. Oh, oh, oh. My heart clenched with longing with every single photo. I miss France every single day. I’ve never felt that way about any other place, except my grandparents home they had when I was a child.
It’s like I’m looking at photos of my heart’s home.
I had a migraine yesterday and couldn’t reply to your hilarious request for how we me: we were nuns in a convent and you sneaked out one night and met French husband, and I sneaked out shortly afterwards so I could learn to play the harp for your wedding.

  15. Happy Journeys! Jackie I smiled at your words both yesterday and today.

  16. Nice work! I took photos along the country side on the TGV as well, and capturing some of those shots were difficult as it flashed by.

Worthy story! Wear it with pride as I assume after it is purchased, the challenge of Chinese post office will be conquered by Tongue in Cheek!

  18. I love taking the train. Paris to Amsterdam was my first trip on the high speed trains of Europe. Even the slow, very slow, train trip to Prague was great. Unfortunately the backwards thinking governor of Florida has turned down money for building a high speed train. We Americans love to sit in traffic.

  19. Brenda L from TN

I loved Jackie’s story too!! When I read it I knew she would win. It was beautiful.
    Congrats Jackie!! Enjoy the scarf…
    Corey & Yann…have a good and safe trip…

  20. I love the last picture of the girl in the bonnet and the dress … where do I get a bonnet like that?!
