Up, up and Away

Paris corey amaro collage

We are off… two nights in Paris.

Then to Thailand, where we will stay for three weeks.

Then to Hong Kong for a few days, where we are invited by a fellow blogger, Irina.

Next we will fly to Yangshou for five day, before going to Shanghai, to see Chelsea.

At the end of the week the three of us will go to Beijing.

I hope to post daily… though in China it might prove impossible.

Maybe less possible than Sophie (our house-sitter) letting Stinky Cat inside our house!

Paris to bangkok one suitcase

One suitcase.

One back pack holding my computer and camera.

One empty suitcase to carry back treasures.

Hope you will follow along with us on our happy trails!

  13. Ah, what a relief to hear there’s an empty suitcase going along with you! The one-suitcase story was worrying me (how would Corey bring back treasures from China?), and now I understand the logic. Bon voyage – it’s going to be an amazing adventure indeed, and cannot wait to follow it!

  22. Three (3) weeks in Thailand? Or did you mean 3 days? And it’s very hot/humid this time of year there. Am looking forward to seeing how you “see” these countries through your camera lens. Take care!

  33. Bon Voyage, safe travels and a wonderful journey to the
both of you! Corey, one suitcase….I’m impressed and
need lessons from you! Have fun and thanks so much for
    taking us along!!!

  34. What a marvelous itinerary! That single bag looks large enough for you two to manage, certainly compared to how much you had to do without on the motorcycle trip a couple summers ago. As others have noted, it’s perfectly reasonable to rinse out the same few garments to wear repeatedly on a long trip. Also, as I suggested before, once you reach Shanghai you can borrow a few of Chelsea’s clothes (tops, at least) to give you a bit of variety.
That second empty bag for bringing back treasures — what a good idea. Make sure you don’t get any surprises in terms of having to pay customs for over-the-limit purchases. You might want to consider mailing some items home (especially from your earlier stops) labeled as “gifts” to friends who’ll hold them for you till your return.
Don’t worry if you miss any days blogging owing to lack of access, because we all know it’ll be worth the wait for another good vignette! I don’t know about China, but at least in the Azores I’ve found the public library computers to be publicly available on every island I’ve visited ever since I began emailing — and if you’re staying at a hotel, they may have Internet access in your room or even complimentary computer usage at the check-in desk.
    Boa viagem!

  35. Bon Voyage! Szczesliwej podrozy! Looking forward to the dispatches from the far East Tounge-in-Cheek style.

  42. I only have to plan a trip from Toronto to Savannah and have become blinded by the details. A suitcase, a backpack and an empty suitcase – then go. You are inspiring m’lady!!!

  43. Have safe travels–and a great time!

  44. just popping in before going to bed; happy travelling, much fun, travel safely, God be with you and fill your 2nd bag up… throw away your things you’ll have been wearing for what – how many weeks? – you won’t want to see them ever again…. so more space for goodies from China! A girlfriend of mine with an Ambassador husband brought a Chinese bike back to Paris and she could leave it anywhere and everywhere, nobody would steal it, it looked so old and rusty… :)))))))))))))) Don’t worry about blogging; we wait patiently – have a happy time and just surprise us when and if you can with a few words! Love to Chelsea and FH too. Hugs, kisses – especially for you!
    Kiki

  48. I can’t believe you actually made it in one suitcase! Brava! It is a smart way to travel (especially since you are not carrying, rolling, handling it yourself). Have a wonderful time so that you can stand waiting to see Chelsea at the end. Safe travels…

  49. Looking forward to getting a glimpse of Asia from your camera as only you can. Be safe. Thank you to all whose thoughts & prayers have turned to New Zealand in the aftermath of the tragic earthquake last week.

  50. Bon Voyage, Corey….or as we say in Texas…Vaya Con Dios!

  51. jend’isère

  54. Happy Travels! Can’t wait to hear all about it. My husband and I leave April 17th for Bangkok and will spend 2 weeks in Thailand, then off to Taiwan for 10 days of visiting tea farms and museums. Taking one small suitcase for me and back pack for husband and 2 small empty duffel bags for treasures and tea. Oh and my sling bag/purse will be carrying the camera.
