Li River…. Life is but a Dream

Li river rafting dragon's teeth mountains

The Li river runs alongside of Yangshuo.

Slow,

steady,

serene,

and mystical.

The Dragon's Teeth mountains are of stone, piercing up to the sky.

Flying in from Hong Kong the aerial view was breathtaking, floating down the river alongside of them I was awestruck.

My photos do not begin to show their beauty.

Life is abundant alongside the Li river.

Farms.

Cattle.

Temples.

Crystal clear water.

Places where one can plant dreams.

"The Li river, has been described as "a green silk ribbon with hills like jade hairpins". Sixty-five kilometers, a bamboo raft ride lasts five hours (shorter rides are possible) and takes you past a panorama of bamboo groves, sleepy villages, karst peaks and fisherman on bamboo rafts fishing with cormorant birds."

The morning fog casted an extra spell… as if a curtain opened my inner eye to the

Chinese myth which floated into my imagination, and played out on nature's stage.

I sat back on the bamboo raft, felt a silk kimono wrap around me as dragons rose guiding me deeper to the landscape of serene beauty.

China landscape

Powerful. Majestic. Wonder.

China is erupting with every cell, unfolding in the heart of its people, the Dragon awakens.

History with new birth.

  21. No words can describe the beauty of this river. May it be white water rafting on a rubber boat or a slow cruise on a bamboo raft, the Li River is simply amazing. Everything about it is picture perfect. Hopefully the people living nearby will take care of her, because she is a gift from nature.
