Mixed Happiness

Flowers in a teapot                        Photography by Corey Amaro

With spring at hand, the first roses are begging to bloom.

Taking the scissor I clipped a few off of nature's crown.

A teapot, without a lid wasn't what I noticed, no instead I noted its Asian style.

Reminders of China peeking through into my daily life.

An Asian teapot holds those memories while holding the present moment too:

Spring in bloom.

What a lovely arrangement. My brother, who did a gorgeous job with the flowers for my oldest daughter’s wedding, laughed the first time he saw me try to arrange flowers. I so admire those who have the artistry to do so, as my talents definitely lie elsewhere.

  2. Corey, I love the phrase that you wrote “begging to bloom” even if you meant beginning to bloom. I will now think of the roses as begging to bloom, but not here, not for awhile yet.

Gorgeous….but I am a sucker for pink roses.
Hope your weekend weather is better than ours is….

  4. Two perfect fuchsias dangling from their teapot like earrings, brings images of a beautiful and well dressed woman. Possible a Chinese women in her ceremonial dress.

  5. Beautiful. Are you going? Are you going?

Perfectly beautiful and such a lovely bridge between your trip to China and the homecoming. All is one.

Did the teapot come from your recent trip or the new “Asian Market” next to your favorite antique shop? Love the colors of the teapot! Perfect as a vase for your romantic roses.

Ah but soon I am sure you will be joining the fair one in China…for adventure, bonding and mommie and me time.

  14. So beautiful, my Mom always had a few Asian pieces mixed in with her old furniture at home growing up.
Surprised to see the fuschias in France!

  15. Corey, your floral arrangement reminds me of my parents’ backyard, where a Cecile Brunner pink “baby rose” bush AND a fuchsia bush were planted along the south side (back) of the house a few feet apart — probably by my green-thumbed maternal (i.e., German-American) grandmother, as they’d bought and lived in the house for 15 years before moving out and leaving it to my parents — as well as a climbing Cecile Brunner intertwining the cotoneaster at the gateway to one of the paths connecting the front yard to the back. Like Proust’s madeleines, I’ll always remember the fragrance of those pink baby roses from my childhood.

  16. If those flowers are from your garden, I will have to take a moment to weep at how cold, grey and ugly Chicago still is! Thank you for my next screensaver.
