Daring Do

Red pots with leaves

How to burn the candle on both ends? How I am spending my time with my daughter?

Slumber becomes the best time for late night talks…

The morning turns into hitting the snooze button,

Lunch becomes breakfast, late afternoon became the start of the day…

Which lead us to make insane decisions, ones that we never dreamed of doing.

I won't even tell you what we dared and did, because I am still in disbelief. Truly shocked, completely nutty!! What was I thinking? And you would never guess in a million years, and even if you did I still cannot bear to admit it.

Nothing illegal, nothing harmful… just something wacky… I guess that is what happens when one hangs out with a much younger person and stays up far far too late talking, making plans, and then follows through with them when half asleep the next evening.

Oh well… even though my days are upside down Chelsea and I are simply happy and sending some on to you.

  1. Did ya get a tattoo? That’s my guess. Or went streaking through the streets? Or perhaps….perhaps…had an entire chocolate cake for breakfast, sitting on a bus bench on the side of the street? 😀
You sound like you’re having fun!! FUN! Your posts are shining with it. 🙂

  2. Omg, you got a tattoo or something pierced! You have to tell us what you did.

  3. What happens in China, stays in China.

  4. Marie-Noëlle

    Trying a few guesses :
    – You went flying a dragon kite
    – you both signed in the Great Wall marathon
    – you started reading Mao’s “little” Red Book
    – you rented a pink vintage side-bike to tour Shanghai
    – you went pearl fishing
    – you played dominos at a street corner
    – you got friendly with / or adopted a couple of pandas
    – you had kung fu lessons / or practiced tai chi in a park

  5. Oh you terrible tease!

  6. Intriguing! I live in hope that one day you’ll share what it was … Meanwhile, I’m so enjoying this bonus of a return trip to China in your company, and being able to follow through both your and Chelsea’s eyes.

  7. “Memory… is the diary that we all carry about with us. We do not remember days; we remember moments.”
Keep bonding & building up tons of memories → ENJOY!!
    :))

  8. skinny dipping? Tattoo?

  9. It’s what happens when you hang out with a kindred spirit. Chat, sleep in and be happy.

  10. thanks for sending the happy karma my way . . .hopefully, I can grab on to some of it.
Whatever you did I know for sure I wish I was there with my daughter doing it with you!
    xo

  11. you are reminding of the time this past fall that i spent in italy with my daughter, who is going to school in rome. your time with chelsea is so familiar as mine was with my girl. we slept in, we talked til early in the morning, watched movies in bed til the wee hours. then as you said, breakfast turned into lunch, and the late afternoon became the beginning of the day. we shopped til we dropped, and still kept going. it was glorious… can’t wait to find out what you did…do tell!

  12. How can you leave us in the lurch like this? How can you keep your faithful readers wondering what you did? How can you live with yourself knowing we are wracking our brains to figure it out? Perhaps Chelsea will post all the details on her blog… one can only hope!

  13. Yup – I’m with the tattoo. It’s the first thing I thought of and something two would do together where one might not. And all those wonderful symbols to choose from…
You’re having a wonderful time and that is what matters most!

  14. Indeed we want to know! and please post the link to Chelsea’s webpage one more time for those of us who aren’t as organized as we dream of being.

  15. oh come on corey and chelsea….DO TELL…just between us…i promise.-g

  16. You dyed your hair black.

  17. Brother Mathew

After a long night of “chat” you decided to sleep in passing a chance to visit a brocante on the outskirts of Shanghai specializing in french junk.

  18. Spending time in a different time zone will do that for you. My mother and I often reminisce about some of the things we did in Paris – things we NEVER would have done here and enjoyed!
    Do tell!

  19. Please tell us….we promise not to judge. Is it a tattoo?

  20. French husband

    CALL ME RIGHT NOW !!!

  21. Cathy J.

Do tell Corey, we’ll all hanging onto to the edge of our seats!

  22. Franca Bolla

You bought knock-offs of Princess Beatrice’s hat? I hope mine arrives in time for the wedding I’m attending this Saturday.

  23. Denise Solsrud

oh come on!!!!!!!!!!!that’s not fair. we need to know,so we can decide if we would dare to do it. you should get things like this off your mind. it is healthier for you. did walk across a tight rope over one of those ravine? we need to know. cuz, that way, it will give me sine idea exactly how crazy you really are. if FH said call me right now, imagine what your mother must be saying. Bestest,Denise

  24. I was thinking the same thing… a tattoo? Of course that is pretty tame nowadays… A piercing in a very discreet location? … Skinnydipping in public? … It can’t be worse that what we are all guessing! And even if it is, like someone said, none of us are sitting in judgement, and maybe some of us have done/will do the same thing! We love you, Corey, and nothing will change that! So you must share! We’re sitting on the edge of our seats!! And if you just can’t bear to tell us, have Chelsea do a guest post :)… Donna

  25. Lieselotte

Yes, it must be a tatoo .. you had the other one´s name – in Chinese calligraphy stamped on your skin forever, called Chinese name translation
Or your hair dyed in black, Chinese black
Or you each had a Chinese costume with silk jacket taylored to fit you
or you went to a Chinese fortune teller and had your faces read
or you sold all your western clothes at a street market to be rid of them
    or whatever…

  26. Heehee! I hope that they did! Although I think that they did not!!

  27. julieannevins@googlemail.com

    Tatoos or piercing ? Jx

  28. I’m so squeamish I’ve never even had my ears pierced. So I may not want to know what you’ve done 😉

  29. If you still have a silly grin on your face, it was worth it!

  30. You decided to take the South Manchuria Railway and are on your way to Inner Mongolia. 😉

  31. Did you dress in drag…and party till the wee hours? Or maybe you dressed in traditional costumes and were Geisha’s for an evening. That is legal…

  32. What did you do, Corey!?

  33. did she call?? COME ON SOMEONE HAS TO SPILL THE DETAILS OF SAID ACT!!

  34. Tattoo or disco dancing all night? I laughed out loud at FH response. Glad you’re having fun.

  35. well, i’ve gotten a “family” tattoo with two of my daughters (followed by a sister and a neice), and a mother’s day/birthday nose piercing with one daughter, so i’m pretty eager to hear what you and chelsea did. may i just say that i have never for a moment regretted either?! some might call them weird bonding rituals (hah!), but we certainly do have fun together!

  36. Theresa
