Eye Candy on the Streets of Paris

Eye candy on the streets of Paris.

A jar full of chocolate, cafe, and carmel macarons starred back at me as I walked passed Angelina's.

Window shopping

My cousins and I were in Paris for a few days before they head back to California.

They could not get over how beautiful Paris was. They sighed, "Not detail is too small… no matter where your eyes fall… eye candy…"

Flowers in a zinc can

Flowers in zinc pots dotted the city's street.

Pink socks

Talk about details…. a man sat in a doorway, he wore pink socks.

Laduree cherrystrawberry boxes

Laduree was down the street from our hotel.

Temptation.

Those boxes.

French chalkboard menu

The French waiter wrote the daily lunch menu on the chalk board.

Cafe france

Classic Parisian bistro chairs waited around the outdoor tables.

Outdoor cafe paris

The red leather bistro bench was our favorite. We liked how it was outside by the massive painted blue door.

Paris tea

Sunlight filtered in through Angelina's window. Paris sang: La vie en Rose.

Oh la la French waiter

The French waiter's thoughts. No pennies needed.

On the streets of paris

For my brother Mat: Remember when you rode down the Champs Elysee's on Ellen's bicycle?

Mirror ball helmet

The young man on his red moped wore a mirror ball styled helmet. I asked him where he found it, and he told me he made it.

Galerie Vivienne

A passage through Galerie Vivienne:

"Fashion, culture, pampering, food…"

Pont Alexandre III

Pont Alexandre III is an extravagant bridge that spans the Seine.

It is lined with street lamps, and gilded statues. I love the view it offers of the Eiffel Tower.

  1. Oh Corey, How you must be so happy traveling with loved ones to the city of Paris! I have enjoyed all of your photos along your journey. It brings to mind my trips and how much they still mean to me. One of my favorites shops for eye candy came from my first trip to Paris and all those that followed are the candy shops. From walking into the sophisticated shops in Paris to the French country shops in the countryside. This is where my inspiration came from for my French Hutch in my kitchen…….I loved those shops
Your blog is so entertaining, you are such a busy girl

  2. In Paris, I love that nothing is overlooked or thought of as insignificant. Everything is filled with decor from the lamp posts to the sewer covers. You have to love a culture that will decorate everything.

  3. Our favorite eye-candy detail in Paris this month?
That’s gotta be the produce stand in the street just outside the Hotel La Louisiane, on Rue de Seine in the 6th Arrondissement (Latin Quarter).
The colors! The variety! The delicious sweet easy-peel clementines! Red, black and white currants (we grow all three varieties at home, but they don’t ripen till late June here), although they’re really for cooking, not eating fresh.
Oh, and the tempting bunches of fat green and white asparagus! How I wish we’d had the capability of steaming some spears in our hotel room — or would we have like the wild asparagus better? If only we could’ve bought some Hollandaise sauce to pour over them as well!
One bit of heresy: While Paris’ legendary macarons are pretty as jewels to look at, we were a bit disappointed when time came to eat them; too cloyingly sweet for our tastes. Next time we’ll stick with Kouign amanns instead!!!

  4. Oh, and while I was napping in the afternoon, Farmboy Husband would go out to markets for a fresh baguette, cheese, fruit and pastries for that evening’s bed-picnic.

  5. Must have felt like little girls again eying candy shops together. What wonderful memories for the four of you.
I like the lights at night, that’s my favorite part. The pastry shops come in a very close second.

  6. Looking in my bag and seeing a box of Laduree macaroons and knowing I will be eating them all on the train. The view of Paris riding the ferris wheel.

  7. My Paris eye candy would be the history of each beautiful building. Took my breath away.
Versailles, come on, the ultimate eye candy, even though it’s not in Paris. I walked where Marie walked, it was amazing.

  8. My favorite Paris eye candy….All of it!
Lucky, lucky you four getting to be there.

  9. Cruising on the Seine in the evening and approaching a twinkling Eiffel Tower.

  10. C, your pics are my eye candy! Dreaming of my first visit, keeping the faith, the future holds opportunity!

  11. The devil is in the details…and each is better than the last. I love the windows, doors, window boxes, cafes…your entire blog is my guilty pleasure!

  12. Corey everything you show is beautiful…I think my heart belongs in Paris…all the
pics are so beautiful. you lead a charmed, magical, loving wonderful life. You are
always surrounded by such lovely people, places and things. You are my inspiration!

  13. Oh, Corey, you capture that eye candy so very well! I love the bicycle photo with the couple holding hands. Sigh.

Oh Corey, now I want to go back to Paris. On my last trek there I had to deal with the ash cloud and was pick pocketed on the train. At the time I thought I’ve had enough of Paris, now after seeing your pictures I remember why I feel in love with Paris the first time. I’ll definitely will be coming back and of course holding on to my purse a little tighter. I was lucky, I did get my wallet back and our flights weren’t delayed!
p.s. Thanks again for making me feel my kinship with Paris!

  15. Or would aioli (or whatever garlic mayonnaise is called in France) be more appropriate on asparagus?

  16. Favorite eye candy would be the flowers, fruits, cafe’s,
and, “oh those boxes!!” I need one of those. I just need it!!!!

  17. Corey, is that waiter writing on the black chaulk board with a PEN? Is it a chaulk type pen? I want one of those, badly…

  18. My favourite of today’s photos is the guy with pink socks and Laduree boxes.
Sadly, I’ve never been to Paris, but I am hoping to remedy that now, when I live in Europe.

  19. I don’t think that there is one i can pick out. This post makes me remember our trip and miss Paris oh so much. I have to say walks and dinner by the Seine where the best!

    PINK SOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Hi Corey!
Can I share a link to my own Paris detail shots? Don’t mind the sillier ones of me and my hubby (who was, on that trip, still my boyfriend!)…I think the second shot down, taken on the Pont Alexander bridge as well (what inspiration!) is my very favorite photo I have ever taken.
Loving your missives from the trip with your cousins…
    Tamara

  22. Each photo has perfect details. My favorite eye candy in Paris: my husband sitting across from me at a cafe!

  23. I cannot wait to go to Paris… your pics just make me want to book a trip today.
My favorite pics were the pink socks for sure! Love it. Then the red couch against the blue door.

  24. Any and every angle of Notre Dame. Every time I’m in Paris, I just sit and look at her, inside and out.

  25. Paris is the dish I drool over, just any old cobblestone street will do.

  26. Lauren Slavin

this post you put up made me die with longing to visit paris!!!! I can’t wait to get there! thanks for helping to keep my dreams alive as i literally save my pennies.

  27. On my first visit to Paris in 1987 I brought back a poster of the Pont de Alexandre bridge and had it framed, the frame cost more than the print,it is still hanging in my living room!I bought it in the Louvre. I would love to visit those covered passages on any future visits!

  28. Oh, yummy and light macarons…don’t you just LOVE ‘EM!! Ship me two dozen….pleazzzzzzzzzz 😉

  29. Rebecca from the pacific northwest

What fortunate cousins to have you to show them around Paris!
I loved the architectural details on all the buildings when I was there. Plus all the stuff in your photos. Makes me want to return. (Do you get a commission from Paris on all the people who visit because of your blog?)

  30. That would be YOU, Corey….you are having too much fun over there..

  31. jend’isère

Ah ha, finally you stopped “lecher les vitrines” windowshopping, literally “licking the shopwindows”. We know you don’t want to create jealousy by devouring such teasing temptations. We can live through your humanly hunger, so bon apetit girls!

  32. Loved the chocolate shot…and your reflection taking it!

  33. I didn’t recognize Pont Alexandre III in your final photo, but Farmboy Husband did, from his sightseeing while I was at the conference.
The two bridges we walked across together were farther upstream, nearest to the Hotel La Lousiane: Pont Neuf — ironically, the oldest remaining bridge spanning the Seine in Paris, although obviously it was once new (LOL!) — and the Pont des Artes (“the party bridge,” so I’m told), where I met a young man in a Brasil soccer (football) jersey who works in Paris now and was delighted to meet someone who (sort of) spoke his native language, even down to the Brazilian “sotaque.”

  34. all of it, the macaroons, the pink socks, the bridge
if i ever come to Paris i want you for my tour guide…
