Bicycling to the French Brocante

Bicycling to the brocante, not really, but I knew it would grab my brother’s attention, and maybe make him smile at the word brocante. The bicyclers, who ride the road to and from our village often make the world slow. It seems whenever I am in a hurry to go somewhere there they are, on the road, it their double lane packs, as if messengers saying, “Patiences my dear, take it easy, breath, enjoy the moment at hand…”
The roads leading out of our village are full of blind curves, so if you are behind a pack of bicyclers the fifteen minute ride to the freeway entrance can take up to thirty. Thank God the bicyclers have cute butts.
The iPhone is proving to be a perfect tool for blogging. Easy to snap a photo with, beats lugging a heavy camera with lens, and I can add a photo to the blog within seconds.

Yesterday after following the bicyclers for awhile, we made it to the brocante. Fifteen minutes after arriving it started to rain. Most of the dealers covered theirs stands with heavy plastic and carried on. Some smart shoppers had umbrellas, I had my iPhone. Though amazingly enough, I managed to find a few things. I hope to reopen Tongue in Cheek Antiques in July. But I might add a few things before then. ______________________________________ Readers, Because I have this handy dandy iPhone that makes it very easy to add photos and videos to my blog I am wondering if you prefer that I add random photos throughout the day to my blog with one main post as I have been doing these last few days. Or should I add extra photos and clips a few times a week. Or… it you have another idea, suggestion, imput…. I would love to hear it. Thanks.

  1. I like the daily surprise and pleasure of your blog. Your random acts of kindness, ie blogging all throughout the day, just might take away that single moment of discovery.

    Dear Corey…
Either way is fine with me. It makes me tend to check back a couple times a day. Usually I would check your blog first thing in the am…like reading the newspaper. What I love about you and your blog (besides all of the escapdes we get to travel along on) is your dedication and consistency to it. Somehow I am not quite as disciplined with mine, but I am vowing to make a change in that department too. Thanks for taking the time out of your day to make me wander, think and smile.

  21. Brenda L. in TN.

I am fine with whatever you do…either way.
I am so happy to hear your voice! I thought you might speak with a French accent but you don’t. I want to hear FH’s voice speaking French AND English…I also want to hear Chelsea and Sacha speak English. (I asked one time if they spoke English with a French accent…which they probably do.)
Your iPhone sounds great and takes super pictures.

I enjoy the daily blog entries, I read them every morning before I get out of bed, on my iPhone! 🙂 But that said, you should do what is the best fit for YOU, your readers will adjust. We just want to hear what you have to share, whenever you post it.
Looking forward to the re-opening of your on-line brocante.

    1. Loved hearing your voice, like all these other commenters. Best of all? “Cute butts.” I so agree, as we have lots of bicyclists around here too.
    2. What do you call (in French) the vendors at brocantes? Brocanteurs? Brocantistes? They certainly are dedicated on rainy days.
    3. Darlin’, you just post whenever you want. (Spoken in my deepest Southern drawl.) We love whatever / whenever you give post.

  25. Rebecca from the pacific northwest

PS. I am now wanting an iPhone. Husband says I don’t need one.

  26. I love all of it. As others have said, it is fun to hear your voice 🙂

  27. Dealers at the brocante are called Brocanteur.
    Buyers are called Chineurs.
The rest of the world I don’t know.
