At the Brocante (Via iPhone)

The small painting was new, though it was on the brocanteur's (dealer's) eye appealing stand.

______

The first rule when going into a French brocante stand is to say, "Hello-Bonjour" to the dealer.

The next thing you need is to know is the word "Combien?" Which means, "How much?"

______

I didn't buy the painting, and continued walking in the rain.

I want Sunny Provence Brocante back… I wonder if the iPhone can whip that up too?

  1. I have no iPhone, but maybe the power of will can move the clouds and push some of our blue sky and 20°C in your direction? (I was wondering why you were all dressed as if it were winter in yesterday’s “Going to Dinner” video.)
I had an ice cream cone with a big scoop of Demel’s violets ice cream, which cooled me down nicely on my way home.
May there be sunshine in Provence, soon! 🙂

  2. Oh, I wanted to type 30°C, sorry! 🙂

I thank God literally, for my computer and Corey and her iPhone. From someone who doesn’t get to go much further than the supermarket. This is so wonderful. Thankyou so much for sharing.

  5. WOW!!! Loving this! Thank you so much for sharing. This may be the closest I get to the brocante. Thank FH too. Great gift we all get to enjoy.

Now this is fun! Keep’em coming.

  8. OH! MY! Brocante and RAIN…how utterly dreamy…to me at least. Right now, in our area of Texas is a drought-land…that last time recorded that there was this little rain from Oct-June was 1885. We pray for rain…as much as I would long for Provence and brocanting…as a cattle ranchers wife, I choose RAIN. I am loving the iPhone videos. How serene! was that lovely little stroll “out to eat”…I am greedy for more…and hearing y’alls voices was a treat. Hugs to you…how is your foot doing?

  9. Thats great! You have a cute voice and it fits you! I liked that blue bottle I saw!

Ah! What torture! That grayish green table in front of the painting is perfect! It is so much fun to with you on your outings. Thanks for not letting the weather discourage you. I too love hearing your voice and would love to hear Annie’s too.

April showers in June are welcome after April heatwaves in France. Though lately it does feel as like the southern hemisphere approaching winter than summer. Thanks for the early morn wanderings…we’ll tune in to watch a real transaction with negotiations and money exchange while holding the camera steady!

And, I love that you speak French like an American.

  13. So enjoying these videos, like little extra surprises during the day! I loved the blue jar too, and the painting of white flowers in a vase. This is definitely the next best thing to being there with you!

  14. If it can’t now, from what I’ve heard, there’s an app for it.

  15. C, I must be dreaming. You are feeding my French hunger. I was wondering . . .the brocante is always cash, right? like the flea markets here in the US.

  16. Hi Debra,
    Cash or check.
Unless it is a shop than a card can be used as well.

  17. Nice! That was so fun to stroll through a brocante, rain and all. What is a good month to go to Provence?

Was that Yann in the hoodie holding the two yellow bags?

  19. Loving your videos. Short and sweet. Try not to pan so fast though, it makes me dizzy, and I can’t afford to be any dizzier. I especially liked that you captured a little conversation in that one, though I don’t speak any French.
