Summer Rain and a Duck Name Lauren

Duck named lauren

As I rolled over in bed I felt the weight of the blanket, chilly was an unusal greeting. The morning birds, that usually work as an alarm clock, did not wake me, where did they go? What time was it anyway? The grey sky hid the clues that the summer sun usually gives.

I got up, noticing that the floor was cool underneath my barefeet… was I dreaming or was it raining outside?

Looking out the bedroom window, I saw Sacha's duck and rooster, that he has raised since they hatched months ago, walking around in the rain. Rain? Puddles formed, and the oleander trees blossoms covered the ground. The duck and the rooster did not seem to mind wet feathers.

The duck is ready to fly, but I think it is in love with the rooster.

I am in love with summer, rain, and home… I wish that France and California weren't so far apart.

  1. I also think often about how far my homeland is …
so cute, the duck is in love with the rooster 🙂

I had a lot to catch up with this morning … after a few days away from the computer.
Is Sacha going to bring the duck and the rooster home as “souvenirs” ?!?
You never know, they could keep the naughty cat away !

  3. Ah… I do know that feeling – of an ocean in between. Sweet ducky!

  4. Sacha’s duck is beautiful, is that his lap? The duck might be in love with Sacha, not the rooster. Enjoy your summer at home, it’s hard to have family spread across the world, there is always someone to miss. Hope you, Sacha and the birds have a wonderful day.

  5. Rain? In California, in June?

  6. Missing people we love is the stuff of life. Always something (someone) to look forward to seeing. You certainly have a beautifully full life!

  7. I hear ya, I can’t wait for a quicker mode of traveling. It shouldn’t be this way.

  8. Home is always too far away when you cannot go very often. I too love home and summer… It sounds like you are having a wonderful summer. You know how to enjoy life, Corey. Love to you and yours.
    xo, carol

  9. Don’t you just wish you could put your sparkly red shoes on, click you heels three times, and be back in France or back in California? If wishes could come true. I have often wondered how torn you must feel sometimes not being able to quickly be in the other place.

  10. 1. This reminds me of “Friends” when Joey and Chandler adopted both a duck and a chick, which they kept in their apartment! Sure hope that vegetarian Sacha’s pets don’t wind up as canard et poulet :-(((
    2. Lovely article in the online “Willows Journal” about Sunday’s Holy Ghost festa in Princeton. Some Amaros are mentioned, as well as other folks doubtless also related to Corey.

  12. I miss France so very much and am waiting for the opportunity to be back there. But for now, I am in California. Totally relate. The grass is always greener I suppose 🙂

  13. that’s what we all said!! 🙂

  14. I have never been to France but truly want to go… I live in California so I can totally see what you mean. Lovely pic.

  15. You get to live a fabulous life all over the world by the sounds of it. but being
so close to your family as you are, it must indeed be difficult.

  16. I completely understand the sentiment.

  17. Awwww! But they’re so much cuter in real life!
The rooster and the duck should have a chuck!
    A mix between a chicken and a duck! 😀
