An Impromptu Picnic

  A picnic corey amaro

An impromptu picnic starts when one wants to nibble on something in between meals.

One opens the fridge, leans on the door, and scopes out the possibilities.

Instead of grabbing, and nibbling where one stands, the essences of an impromptu picnic is gathering the morsels of happiness, and going outside.

Picnic

Spreading a cloth on the garden table, or on the lawn,

sitting down, soaking in the sun,

sipping the breeze and savoring serenity.

Bread and chesse

Which translates into bread, cheese, tomatoes, fresh fruit and a glass of wine. Oh yes, a chunk of chocolate is a welcoming finishing touch.

When is the last time you went on a picnic?

I like to go camping for my vacations… pic-nics for each meals is one og the reasons why ;).
    XOXO

When my husband and I were first married, we had no money so we would go on picnics for entertainment. Sometimes we even took our cat with us. Don’t think the cat enjoyed it as much as we did. We did go on a picnic last summer with our grandkids.

I adore impromptu picnics! My husband and I had such a picnic just a week ago. I tucked in some egg salad sandwiches, peanut butter cookies, pesto rolled in puff pastry, and fresh cherries, then took the tea pot out to a beautiful country sight. It was lovely.

  5. A few summers back, before we put our boat up for sale. I would gather everything in the frig, including wine & chocolate. Of course this type of picnic includes casting off and anchoring when the perfect spot is found. But, water picnics are pure bliss.

Picnics on the bed in our hotel room in Paris this past May — fresh baguettes, Camembert, fresh fruit, sinful pastries, Coke. And at the B&B where we stayed in Provence, with a goodie-bag from Corey!

Your tomatoes look scrumptious. Ours are not ripe yet. Still green and stubborn on the vine.
I can’t remember the last time we had a picnic, but it seems like it has been hot here forever. Too hot for picnics. Think of saunas. Think of thick, oppressive heat pressing into your skin. Ugh

A picnic in the stands at a small rodeo is planned for this afternoon with two 9 year old boys. I will make pizza to bring , along with fruit and snacks

  9. I have picnics at my grandma’s with my cousins all the time! 🙂

It’s been forever since I’ve had a picnic, though it sounds wonderful. Right now we are at (I think) 27 consecutive 100 plus degree days, so we don’t do much outside.
I am amazed that you can blog daily, but always enjoy it!

By sheer serendipity I seem to arrive day after day just as you put up your blog post. No matter if you do exceptionally early or late, somehow I think of you just then.
So, this morning, all I did was steal a slice of baguette and a bit of cheese and then I had the most wonderful imaginary picnic by the windowsill, looking at the rain falling on the trees and water running down the leaves. I was heavenly, merci! 🙂

Oh well, it (the window picnic) was heavenly.
I still am no angel, fortunately. 😉

Yummy and dreamy…my little one and I have a picnic each luncheon, as her lunch favorites (she is 4yo) are cheese, crackers, slices of apple, strawberries and spinach leaves. We sit on a blanket in the living room and spend sweet time together…being an older mom who gets to stay at home during this precious time…I try my hardest to make the most of it. An impromptu picnic tho’ sounds wonderful tho’.

Early this morning, with the windows rolled down. We dove north of San Francisco. In the trunk of the car was one shucking knife, a crusty loaf of bread, bottle of champagne, and mason jar.
Spent the day shucking and eating raw oysters from Tomales Bay and filling a mason jar with wild lupine, poppy and mustard flowers.

This is what we love so much about France; wine, cheese, bread, beautiful produce and, of course, chocolate! Merci for the inspiration!

My last impromptu “picnic” of sorts was discover two perfectly ripe Roma tomatoes in my garden, warm from the sun, picking them, racing into the house, washing and slicing them, arranging them on a Jadeite plate, spritzing them with sea salt and standing at the kitchen window eating them.
    Oh, tomatoes. Oh, Heaven!
