Natacha: Fifteen Years Later

Natasha

The last time I saw Natacha she was four years old, and she and Sacha had just finished painting each other, from head to toe, with fingernail polish. Red, pink, orange, pastel pink blotches all over their naked little bodies. They thought they looked soooooooo cute.

Soon there after she moved to the States with her American mother ( my dear dear friend Christy) and her French father. Sadly, I have only seen Christy once in fifteen years.

Natacha has come to spend a month with us this summer… and seriously I think she was a baby of mine given away at birth.

Natacha loves to cook, loves to hang out, loves old movies and loves….are you ready for this old things.

Needless to say, she has the Brocante Bug, and I am thinking of kidnapping her.

  1. I think she got these things from you when you were living in Paris. She was a baby and you told her stories …and she got the bug

  2. uh oh. She and Sasha are both gorgeous, young, and have French souls.

  3. I’m sure you’ll teach her well. As my step-son would say, you can be her Padwa (I think that means teacher in Star Wars talk.) But I’m not sure that Padwa is the right word so don’t quote me.

  4. LOL; nice thought!! I have – in this way – adopted quite a number of ‘daughters’….. funnily never a boy!
Lovely, lovely photos, and (for me) lots to read as I’ve been off your blog for a moment!
    Thank you dear, dear Corey

  5. How fun to have another daughter to come and play with you. You are so fortunate to have one that loves the brocante and cooking too.

  6. She’s gorgeous and she obviously caught the brocante bug from you before she moved back to the States.

  7. You are so fortunate to have one that loves the brocante and cooking too. She’s gorgeous!

  8. Who knows….the finger nail polish could come out again.
    Beautiful woman she is.

Sacha with a new apartment of his own? Keep the polish locked up.

  10. Did she bring an empty suitcase to fill with her French treasures? A lovely summer “gift” for both of you to enjoy 😉

  11. Kindred souls you both are. She is beautiful and one lucky little lady to hang out with you for a whole month.

  12. Lucky Natacha, lucky you. Maybe her mom will decide to join you, if only to get her daughter back. Wouldn’t that be the best?!

  13. Clearly she takes after you. She is not only beautiful but has exquisite taste.

How fun for you, I often wonder about the children I knew along the way, whom I played with and cuddled, whose parents drifted apart from me and mine, setting sail for other shores. So sad to remember their names but not ever see them grown. Isn’t there something so purely physically solid and yet really soul shaking about being 19? Do you remember that year? My advice, pull out all the stops, set the table, decorate with brocante place holders and throw a party with nail polish favors to paint on white paper hats.

  15. Ooooooo…lucky you! Someone to go to the Brocante with you! Since I can’t be with you, you know. Living on the other side of the world and all that.
She is a beautiful girl. You are absolutely surrounded by beauty. You must attract it somehow with your own.

  16. I admire young people who love antique. Lucky you, Corey for having a good company at brocante. Love your photos of Natacha!

  17. Greetings Corey
I just wanted to say that one thing I find in reading your blog every day from the other side of the world is that you are always happy, positive, loving and full of mischief….things we don’t all feel all the time, but you manage to put these things in every blog in one form or another. The photos are always lovely too, but your thoughts shared are warm and generous. I enjoy to read what you have to say each day, usually as I am heading to bed….a nice way to finish my day!
    Thanks,
