I’ve been away and am just catching up on my missed posts. . .
Dear Sacha (Do You Ever Get Mad?)
No parent wants to be seen as dishonest, especially in front of their children as honesty is one of the highest ideals a parent can wish for. Having said that, my children have also pointed out my dishonesty and it is the most cutting criticism they can use. But because they have seen it, it must be true.
BUT
The anger, frustration and everyday failings that we exhibit as parents we would wish away in a second. I know that personally I want my children to see me as funny, spontaneous, silly, creative, wise, loving, helpful, useful and someone to come home to.
But they point out that I am pessimistic, critical, grumpy, won’t admit when I am under the influence of alcohol, technologically inept, deaf, potty mouthed, shrill, a great cook and a bad dancer, but that they love me anyway and wouldn’t swap me for anyone else.
I love the person your Mum is on her blog. It is the person I wish I was. I don’t need to see another me.
She talks about you, her family and friends as the most wonderful people in the world because inspite of everything, that is exactly who you are to her. In the same way that my family and friends are the best thing about me.
Dear Corey,
Do you really lose your temper? Are you really a potty mouth? Do you really have bad days? Does FH really make you angry?
I think I already guessed all that but you can do something I can’t. You have the most beautiful turn of phrase and put the most inspiring spin on things just to make my day better.
You inspire me to be a better more positive person. (hope that doesn’t sound too corny)
Do whatever you need to to square yourself with Sacha and your family but remember that we don’t always need the full truth all the time. -
