Parfait Cooler

Brocante

You guys are good. Real good. And hard to stump! The French Brocante Guessing Game's answer was found by the second person to comment, Zosia nabbed the winning answer with:

"It is a container that you hang on the indoor heater. The heater is usually installed under a window sill. You pour water in the container and it evaporates making the air in the room less dry. The heaters are the old ones (ribbed-style) and hot water goes through the heaters."

Many of you continued giving the answer, which was nice to see you are a bunch of brocante smartie pants. But my goal is to find something that stumps all of you. It is going to be a hard goal to fulfill, but I am going to try my hardest to do so this year.

Many of you came up with the sweet idea that the French Brocante Guessing Game object  was a fake book to hide love letters, and tokens of secret affections. Patt thought it could be used as "a place to stash your brocante money."

Bird with flowers estampe

A few of you mention it might be a vase, or a piece of tile, or pencil holder, or a hand warmer, or a gravesite ornament… Missy wrote: "…It (is something you) put between your counter and stove so food will not fall into the crack . It was made hollow so that it woudn't be heavy!"

Janet's response made me laugh out loud, when she wrote, "Nah. it's a pissoir. Easy to grab and empty in the morning."

The winner of the creative response for the

French Brocante Guessing Game goes to:

Bugirl1 for her comment

"It is a cooler – spacer for an over-abundant décolletage. Placed in the center of one's chest to cool down in the summer months."

I love it!

Please will the winners (Paulita included) send me your addresses so I can send you a prize.

Thanks for playing and being a hard bunch to stump!

  1. Yay! I guessed right! To be honest we had a similar thing, in our house when I was growing up. It was not so ornate, it was made of terracotta, like planting pots, and it did not have the long part to the back. It was just like a vase and it hanged on the front of the heater, which was ribbed and located under the window sill.
Thank you, Corey! I will send an e-mail with my address.

  2. Congratulations! I wish it were a “cooler”, it’s SO hot in Phoenix right now I could absolutely use it!

  3. I’m with everton terrace – I could use a boozom cooler “for an over-abundant décolletage”.
    Bugirl1 you could market them – I think you’re onto a winner.
