The small details of how we live our lives measure large. Isn't it true that you can get a feeling about a person in how they shake your hand or look into your eye? Wouldn't you agree that generosity of spirit can be seen in how someone smiles?

It is in such small details that speak of who we are.

After days of pouring down rain, this morning came silently. A bird sang, raindrops (nature's diamonds) hung from the leaves of the rose bush outside the bedroom window. I pulled up the blankets around my face, listened to the rhythm of French Husband's snoring and felt very happy.

Chelsea says rainy days mean baking. She planned to bake today (chocolate chip cookies). It isn't raining… But if I turn a sprinkler on, and hang it over the kitchen window maybe she will think it is?

Treasure the small things in life for all to soon you will realize they are the BIG things.
    Love you
    Jeanne ^j^

  2. Those pictures are gorgeous. Like a revival of life so I must be feeling the generosity of your spirit through the photos. Those are the kind of pictures that make me want to be in Provence, especially the sky and the cafe. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I love rainy days! However, we are coming into our summer here and already wish it was over…

  4. Nooooo, not snails! I hated those things when I was growing up in California.

  5. Funny Chelsea said that about rainy days as well as choosing chocolate chip cookies to bake. I feel that way about snow days and those cookies are what I choose to bake as well.

  6. Oh, the blue shutters…how I love that color!
We got an “extra” hour of sleep here as the clocks were turned back before going to bed for daylight savings time. Hopefully, no rain today…local shows to attend!!

  7. Each photo was more beautiful! They bring back such lovely memories of visiting there. I wonder if the rain makes my husband want to bake chocolate chip cookies?

    Orange panniers. Cycling chic. http://girlonbikewrites.blogspot.com/

  9. The little boy next door collects snails in a shoebox and feeds them grass, gives them water. He was thrilled when I found a snail in the garden and gave it to him.
Mmmmm homemade chocolate chip cookies, spending time with your family. Sounds pretty perfect!

The baking bug bites when it rains. We are waiting for some rain this afternoon in So Cal so I am planning on making banana bread, mexican chicken stew (with lime and jalapeno) and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! Come on over for dinner around 7:00 p.m. I will be wearing my stretchy sweats so feel free to leave your spanx at home.

  11. The blue of the shutters in one of the photos is the blue I just painted my daughter’s room (her choice of colour). I love the photo of the lady with the bike and i find the cabbages beautiful.
Similar to France, it’s hard to buy chocolate chips in Poland. Recently, when my daughter wanted to bake chocolate chip cookies, we bought chocolate and chopped it into small pieces. It worked out well. Note to self – buy a sprinkler, position under a window for a rainy day baking.

And here I always thought nature’s diamonds were diamonds. Doh!

  13. You described it so well. It rained here and turned so cool, the blankets were pulled out of the closet and were a welcome addition to the morning cold.

  14. Loved the photos, especially the incredible blue of the sky! A post like this just sort of makes me melt! Thanks so much! How’s the wrist/hand? Better and better I hope!

  15. I would definitely do the sprinkler thing! Anything for choclate chip cookies! 🙂

I’ve seen the weather forecast in your area, Corey !!!
And I’m sorry to let you know it will rain again…
Hope it will be a mere swill this time !!! Just enough for the birds’ bathing and for Chelsea’s baking !!!

  17. I love rainy autumn days. I love the smell and the mist and the damp that drives me inside. They always make me get out my wool sweaters and bring the coverlets to the chair and couch. And they make me think of apple cider. Hot. With a splash of cranberry juice. And a little bit of brandy. You know, to ward off the chill…

Amy, these days have not been ordinary “rainy autumn days” in Provence and on the Riviera.
Many towns and villages have been terribly flooded. Terrific !

Amy, at the moment the usual autumn rains in Provence and on the Riviera have turned into a real “deluge” with terrible floods !!!
