Fields of lavender throbbing with bees, the sound of Cicadas in the trees, the smell of a boulangérie, olive trees shining silver in the breeze, villages perchés,……..in other words…la Provence

France is just not Paris, nor just the French Riviera, nor Provence, or the French Alps, or Normandy, nor the many brocantes…. it is a paradise for the senses.

Thank you for your wonderful responses yesterday!

Love the romance associated with images of France impressions. Challenging to get such wonderful answers when asking French about American impressions. Perhaps a post to prove them wrong on your excursion.
    Bon voyage,Mme Tounge in Cheek!

I remember the smell of lavender and I remember the chirping of the cicadas.
and I remember the sight of the glorious villages in Provence. There’s no other place in this world like Provence!

  3. Boa viagem, amiga!

  4. Awwwww…. the lavender fields I saw in Provence last july…. you could smell them before they appeared before your eyes….
And about the cicadas, can you explain to me why they are the most sold souvenir from there?

  9. If I ever get to France I’d need to stay a good while to the country and the city! Have fun at Willows!!

  10. I thought of you yesterday when I picked up a calendar at the bookstore. It had a photo on the front of it that caught my eye – it looked very much like your lavender one, and the word Provence was across the top. Now I pop on to your blog and see that, yes, it really does look that divine!
Personally, I think your photos beat most of the ones in that calendar – just beautiful!

Is the cicada a brooch? I am somewhat obsessed with cicadas since a friend brought me a wonderful cicada brooch from Amsterdam. Sadly, this dear friend passed away last Thanksgiving – though I have the brooch as a lovely reminder of her wit, charm and intelligence. As always, Corey, your blog entertains as well as giving us food for thought.

  12. Wow! Amazing pictures! Especially with flowers! It so beautiful! Thanks for great pictures!
