Thanksgiving Confession

Leaves and metallic shoes

(Friday Fille: My new metallic shoes standing on the lane covered with Autumn leaves. Which has nothing to do with today's post.)

Thanksgiving Confession….

Not only was the Turkey stuffed at Thanksgiving (!) gee, how could I have forgotten how full one feels after such a feast.

I will share more and add photos later, but I have to make a confession…

My brother Zane smoked the Thanksgiving turkey in the barbecue. The aroma mingled with my memories of being at home on such a day, caught me with the desire to abandon my vegetarian beliefs. I wanted to taste it:

The turkey,

the gravy,

the stuffing,

the whole nine yards and the lane that leads to my mother's home.

Yes I wanted to smother myself in the happy emotion of being home. Thanksgiving feast! I knew that diving into my desire was implusive, but so what?

I sat at the table with my family with a plate full of delicious delights that I haven't had in over thirty years.

Thanksgiving never tasted better.

I guess the turkey was far better than … tofu !!!
    Questions:
what does tofu look/taste like ???
How do you cook/bake it ???

  3. Good on you for living in the moment and enjoying every second of it!

  4. No need for a “confession!” I am an omnivore–sometimes eating as a vegetarian for weeks or months (I love vegies and I love beans) but then other times I eat meat, fish, etc. Why not have it all?

  5. Good for you!

If you didn’t try everything that day, it would be like being in Rome and not seeing the Pope. 🙂

It’s occasions like that where you need a tripod and timer so you could be in the pictures with your family. Glad you had the chance to be home for this holiday and hope I get the chance to see you before you leave.

You are forgiven! So happy you had a great time!

  13. Corey, I didn’t get a chance to read your Thanksgiving post until we were in the car driving to dinner last night. Illuminated by the dark, the stained glass window shots were beautiful. I handed my I phone to my boys to read your post to us. It was so touching, that we read the last paragraph aloud as part of our blessing before dinner.
Thank you for all you bring to my life!

  14. Corey – your family is adorable! (and so are those shoes! What and where?)
