Dinard, France

               Dinard

Dinard, France is in the north western region called Bretagne.

Large, fairytale-like mansions line the northern coast between Dinard and Saint Malo. A century old trail snugs the coastline, which you can walk along for miles, called:

Le Sentier des Douaniers or also known as, La Promenade de Clair de Lune.

The English channel, the magnificent homes, the people strolling along, and at each bend fantastic views. Dinard and Saint Malo are beautiful spots to visit.

The beaches in between invite play and reflection. When I close my eyes I can imagine  Northern California, Westport to be exact. The sound of the waves, the sea breeze, the smell… is like a home away from home.

French Husband loves this area like I love Westport.

He relives his childhood, feels his path, reflects on his dreams.

When we go back to the home of those we love, we see something invisible to the naked eye.

"In Bretagne, people enjoy crepes at a creperie (crepe restaurant). In this part of France, creperies outnumber cafes, and friends gather in them to share a bottle of cidre, a popular local drink, and to eat together while they talk."

I love galettes, sans lardon.

  1. Oh it is beautiful! I can see where FH would love this, but you also. It does remind me of the coast in California that you love so much. I would love walk along that walk and taking in the view, then eating crepes – oh my that would be extra special.

  2. I caught a glimpse of the new hair cut….dashing!

  3. Aha, that is why Yann got his hair cut! What a beautiful area, yes it does look like a French version of the California coast by Westport. I love places like that with the ocean and beach and wonderful vistas. Quite restorative and relaxing at the same time. Doing any beachcombing?

sorry corey, but I think I like FH’s hair this length….makes it appear even fuller and at our ages he should consider himself a lucky guy to have such hair ;-). Lookin’ good and love the coastal photos….Enjoy!

  5. Ooh-la-la, you’re right, Nance!

  11. What a gorgeous place. Absolutely beautiful. Enjoy yourself 🙂

  12. I would love to see the inside of these homes, so beautiful on the outside. As for yesterday’s blog and the previous one I thought of my own son who sustained a serious concussion skiing over the weekend. When I thought of how I’d answer what it is that I love, he was all that mattered at the moment. Thankfully he will recover. As for fh hair cut… change is never easy.

  13. I had never heard of this place–wonderful! Thank you and enjoy your visit!

  14. Tell Belle mere I send my regards. Did I ever tell you I attempted to make Kouign Anman? It was very good, though I’m sure not authentic. I don’t think one could go wrong with the ingredients, no matter how you put them together they would taste great.

  15. I would love to be on a beach right now!

I think Woody Allen should cast you in a new film, as the 2012 Annie Hall (Corey) and produce the film in France. Oh, the places you have experienced, soaked up, lived in, gulped up, all respectfully of course. I get ‘drunk’ on your posts.
    Cheers,
    Leslie
