Sacha and his Girlfriend

Sacha and Mila

Sacha hasn't seen Mila in over a year.

Since we live in a small village in the country, when Chelsea and Sacha were in junior high and throughout high school they would commute by bus, then train, then by metro to go to school. It made for a very long day. Their adventures to school, from home are many. My favorite involves the first time Sacha took the train… he didn't get off the train in time, the doors closed heading for Nice, he was eleven.

Luckily for Sacha, Chelsea did get off the train and ran for help. Meanwhile, Sacha sat down and thought to himself, "Well, it will work out… tonight I'll be home sleeping in my bed with a good story to tell in the future."

Forty five minutes later Sacha was coming back on another train.

That has been Sacha's attitude, "… it will work out, so enjoy the ride."

Anyway, when Chelsea graduated from high school, Sacha would spend every Monday night at our friends Philippe and Manu's house. They have a little girl name Milas. Sacha's girlfriend, or I should say Mila's boyfriend.

A few months before Sacha graduated from high school Philippe and Manu were expecting their second child.

A boy.

And guess what they named him?

Sacha.

  1. A boy named Rocky. I was 6 years old and he liked my best friend Linda. He said that I could be their maid!

  2. I like Sacha’s attitude – “it will all work out; tonight I’ll be in my own bed with a good story to tell in the future.” Wonder who instilled that in him? : ) Anyway, the joy truly is in the journey.

  3. Cynthia wolff

Cheyenne aka Clint Walker. I remember running and hiding under my highchair when that show came on tv. Corey… Your beautiful family!! So sweet and kind… You and the old man did good.

  4. Natalie Thiele

I love it! That is so sweet and Sacha is a great name.
Leon, my first crush. He worked on my grandparents’ farm.

  5. Mélanie Aussandon

I can’t believe Mila is already that big . I remember her as a baby . Children grow so fast .I think my 1st crush was my dad

  6. NOW I know the reason you were so sanguine when the TGV door closed on me after Farmboy Husband had boarded but I was still a few steps behind, so missed the Paris-Marseille train! History repeats itself, repeats itself…
First crush? My only first cousin, who’s nearly old enough to be my father, and when I was little was still living just two blocks away with my uncle and his wife after he graduated from high school. When he had to go into the military I was utterly HEARTBROKEN, and too young comprehend how long two years would be (felt like forever). Cuz is still handsome in his early 80s, but what I really treasure about him are his irreverent wit and abundant artistic talent (he apparently inherited not only his share of the family art genes but also mine, since I can’t draw worth merde). He was also apparently a great dad, as demonstrated y the fact that all three of his (middle-aged) kids are still very close to him.

  7. Dottie Eberhart

His name was Tommy. He went to our church and his parents were friends of my family’s. I was maybe 4 or 5; he was probably 15 or 16. He was so sweet to me ( a bonus – his sister was probably 14 and had the most extensive paperdoll collection I had ever seen and she would let me play with it). Years later I went to Tommy’s wedding and reminded him he had promised to wait for me. Thanks for reminding me of that memory. I haven’t thought of that wonderful loving family in years. That is why I love your blog – it reminds me of beautiful loving people, places and things – things that are important and real. You are the best!

  8. Ralph, we grew up together. He was very shy and it took many years before he showed an interest in me, but I loved him madly just the same. In the end, we were better friends than lovers.

Pictures speak a thousand words: it is easy to see that Mila has a crush on Sacha and, I suspect likewise.
We were in grade three. His name was Marshall. With him there were many hours spent playing house in his garage. It was from Marshall that I received mon premier baiser. I recall blushing and running away.
Memories of such innocence are sweet.
I wonder where he is now and, if asked, he would remember.

  10. The photos of Sacha and his girlfriend are adorable. Can’t remember my first crush! Corey, how is little Daisy doing?

  11. I love the video — so sweet! And Bev’s comment “He said that I could be their maid!” made me laugh out loud.

  12. Tongue in Cheek

    lol!

  13. Laurie SF

A red-haired, freckled-faced boy, named Jimmy, who happened to be a friend of my brothers . My tormenter of a brother let him peak into my Jimmy shrine of a bedroom…adorned with a hundred posters of Jimmy + Laurie…Laurie loves Jimmy..etc.
Jimmy pinned me against the school lockers the next day and said, “See you at the school dance on Friday and save the last dance for me.”

  14. I love to see young adults relating this way to children in general. It shows that they are «bien dans leur peau» and will make for a good head start on parenting.
I witnessed the same thing at Christmas when my two boys 22 and almost 20 played with the little kids as easily as they talked to adults.
    We are blessed.

  15. Patty Van Dorin

My first crush was Marshal Matt Dillon from “Gunsmoke”.

  16. My first crush was an older cousin too. He was so cool and I remember him picking me up from kindergarten once in his GTO. I named my cat, turtle and rabbit Tom after him.

  17. I am wondering if Mila picked the name? Seems right.
My first crush was Jack in kindergarten. I would walk to school with him and hold his hand or walk closely with him. His sister came along, she was my friend and still is, but it was her brother that I wanted to be close to.

  18. Jill Flory

Ah those first crushes. I was 2. He was a teenager. But I thought he was the neatest guy. Funny how none of my girls have followed in my footsteps! The youngest is 6 and none of them have ‘liked’ anyone like I always did!

  19. Ironically, it wasn’t until years later that I realized how much alike Farmboy Husband and my cousin really are, not only in general looks but especially in disposition (they get along famously, as well). It’s almost as though I married my cousin — thank goodness for incest taboos ;-)))

  20. I had a crush on every boy who had a bicycle. I was an absolute bicycle slut. I begged the boys to give me ride.
I had no self consciousness sitting on the handlebars, on the cross bar (of a boy’s bike) or on the passenger seat in back (when bikes were more substantial!}I was only five or six, but I LOVED the boy I was riding with. Then when I got my first bicycle all of that changed. I LOVED independence!!!!!

  21. Paul McCartney!

  22. Amy Kortuem

That is an adorable story! My first crush was (not even kidding) Johnny Cash. I’ve always been a sucker for a bad boy!
Did you know I can play Fulsom Prison Blues on the harp? It’s true.

  23. LA CONTESSA

YOu have the BEST stories! You seem to never runout either! My first crush was my swimming teacher at our pool we belonged to in Tiburon,California.Funny as I write this I cannot even remember his name……think it was Bill!He drove an old model T truck.Perhaps,I was more in love with that then him as now I have an antique shop!

  24. Tongue in Cheek

I remember him too, he was hot!

  25. Tongue in Cheek

  26. Tongue in Cheek

Better and better, thanks for asking!!

  27. Tongue in Cheek
