  1. Well I have bought yarn on e-bay but I also bought quart milk bottles which we use for water, juice and kool-aid.

  2. Back in 1933, my grandmother went to the Chicago World Fair. Recently, I found a 1933 World Fair coin. I bought it as a gift for her. It amazes me what you can find on ebay!

  3. I’m drooling! Thanks for the eyecandy Corey! karen….

  4. yes i do all sorts of things…some winners and some not so much…that is how the diced are rolled-corey do you buy on ebay?

  5. No eBay purchases here, but I’ve sold some stuff there. Is the beaded thingy worn by the mistress of the house to hold things, as well as her wearing the chatelain on her waistband?

  6. Test.

Such cool old stuff! What I would dearly love is to unearth a book that old on my own!!!

For awhile I was addicted to Ebay, especially UK ebay and German ebay. My favorite find was a gorgeous hand carved antique springerle rolling pin, but it was no bargain so we ate alot of hamburgers that week! On the other hand, I found a wonderful early 1800’s English cookbook that noone else bid on so I got it for only $9.99 I’ve sold alot too, which helps balance what I spend. Looks like I’ll have to check out the French ebay now and keep a French dictionary handy by my side!

My guess is either a Wall pocket or a chatelaine’s key holder
I am drooling!!!! FRENCH E Bay!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Ahhhh… French ebay. I found something and I almost wish I hadn’t read this post.

I have bought old books, fabric and snowboarding boots! Love Ebay! So fun to bid on the auctions, but I have to set my limit because it is really easy to get caught up when someone outbids you. I was just bidding on an old brass and copper music stand but lost out. Now I will just have to check out the French Ebay.

  12. I’ve bought a lot of things on French ebay, although the shipping can be a bit dear – especially on larger items. Small things, however… There are times when sellers don’t want to ship outside France. A big disappointment.

I have been using Ebay for years. I started out collecting coins but soon realized that it was going to cost too much and I would never complete the collection I started. I sold the whole collection to pay for my 25th wedding anniversary trip. I now use Ebay to collect things associated with Willows. I have an ongoing search for items with the word “Willows” in the title. I’d love to show you my collection on your next visit.

  14. On eBay many years ago I was able to collect some interesting antique postcards of the Azores, plus old maps and typical Azorean “rendas” (embroidery) — as well as filling out my stoneware pattern several decades late (LOL!) and buying gently-worn classic clothes that we never could’ve afforded new. But the most interesting thing to derive from shopping on eBay was that I made virtual friends with TWO of the sellers — a descendant of the storied Dabney family of Faial (several generations of whom served as US Consul to the Azores for the span of nearly the entire 19th century, starting with the Presidency of Thomas Jefferson!), and a Welsh retired salvage ship captain (the map-seller), who lately has had some (ahem!) interesting comments re the wreck of the “Costa Concordia.”

  15. my most memerable purchase on Ebay was a very large Scottish oil portrait of The Earl of Strathmore in hunting kilt with a large St Bernard type dog. The painting was in Canada and I just had to have it!!! I threw caution to the wind and won it for $2000. I never make such extravagant purchases…….The devil made me do it!!! I had a hard time getting my incripted visa # to go through and made 3-4 attempts before I suceeded. I tried to delete all evidence and told myself I will deal with the hubby manyana. Oh what a wicked web we weave…… just my luck Visa phoned while was at work and told my husband they thought someone was trying to use our card. Of course Doug told them it couldn’t possibaly be our purchase!! so they decided to cancel our only credit card and issue a new one which would take 48 hrs……Very inconvient as Husband was leaving on a business trip in the morning….I told him the chap looked just like him and I was purchasing it for his birthday, our anniversary and Christmas present……IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SURPRISE!!! It sets on an easel in our dining room, I was eventually forgiven. AS they say “All”s well that ends well”

  16. Such treasures! My guess is that it is a pocket (for tiny treasures – hankie, perfume, key to his heart, locket with baby’s face painted inside)…..

  17. Ooh la la, such beautiful cut work. I guess I have somewhere new to look. I’m guessing the piece of embroidery is a pocket of some sort or a scissor case/ needlework tool holder. I have bought cheap bling from China for my craft work, old broaches for my collection (nothing expensive), wooden darning mushroom and cross stitch ‘stuff’. I look more than I buy.

  18. No I don’t buy on ebay, but these pictures do tempt me. Love the linens and teacup.

I love eBay. I have bought rugs, clothing, shoes, antique ceramic sculptures, cigar boxes, sunglasses, all sorts of things.

  20. So interestting to see what you can find on ebay!! I wish I had more time to browse into all the ebay offers!!
Thank you so much for sharing these items! I just love that painting!!

  21. … and lots of vintage postcards!
There is nothing nicer on a sunny day than to pass the time exploring a brocante.

  22. Funnily, I never bought on Ebay France but I bought lots on Ebay UK…. mostly fabrics, miles and miles of it. I also bought a ‘shade triangle’ which we couldn’t fix to any of the houses we owned since buying it!!!!
I bought dozens and dozens of DVDs that at one time came free with a weekend paper and me coming to UK was a true treasure chest for me.
I do buy on PriceMinister France and as always on Amazon Marketplace UK.
My best buy on Ebay UK was a heavy, sturdy bench from teakwood – it’s a terror to move but it’s fantastic and now after years of being outside, it has a lovely greyish texture and goes with any table because it’s natural. It was expensive but nowadays it would be a steal!

  23. wrote a long comment which didn’t show up… disappointment – but I’m sure it was a technical prob here…. still – not writing again

  24. I’ve made one of those little cases – I keep my embroidery scissors there so they won’t be misplaced.

No, I’ve never bought anything on e-bay…
    And I am not a “chineuse”…
Still, if I were one and wanted to buy something on e-bay, I think I would search for a”gaufrier en fonte”.
My gran had one… and all the family (aunties and cousins) do remember it and moreover those delicious “gaufres” we used to have through winter afternoons.
Have you ever seen any when going brocanting?
Thinking of you while Provence is putting its white gown on…
    xo
