    1. To return to Paris and rent an
    apartment for a month or two.
    2. To take a cruise
    3. To see my grandsons graduate from college (they are 9 and 6 right now)

    1)to be happy with where I am in life and love. 2)to continue to grow and be an outward facing person as long as possible. 3) to enjoy the dance!

    2. To paint an intensely good painting, a real piece of art.
    3. To master that doggoned French macaroon. I have a good handle on it, but really. To have the technique so down that *every* batch came out with feet and beautiful consistency, well that would put me on the moon!

    2. Watch a sunset with my husband on St. Barts while drinking a glass of wine.

    1) To explore Paris! (which I think is finally happening this fall because of my volunteer efforts on a Sister Cities Program. [C, I had to find a way to get there:)!]

  26. I love old letters – wouldn’t it be fun to know all about the writer of that letter – history is so interesting.
    My top 3 things on my bucket list are:
    1. To learn to sail a yacht.
    2. To learn a foreign language
    3. To write a NZ novel.

  27. How lucky am I! I’ve already achieved the Big Three on my bucket list from 15 years ago:
    1. To learn Portuguese — not that language-learning isn’t truly a lifelong pursuit, but I had to start out not knowing a single word of the language, unless you count “piranha” and “bossa nova” (LOL!).

    2. To locate distant cousins in the Azores, then visit there in order to meet them, and to research my genealogy in the Regional Archives further. Again, there’s so much more I could do, to track my lineage back further, but at least I was able to answer my cousins’ and my most immediate questions.

    Such a lovely letter. I love penmanship, pens and ephemera. It is thrilling to know that in this day of iphones, pads, blackberry, computers and more that a letter could survive so long and bring about such pleasure. Makes me smile.
    After surviving cancer that bucket list is even more important:
    1. To live a peaceful love filled life.
    2. To write a book with of all my food, people and travel adventures.
    3. To be a good friend and to give back to those who are having a harder time than I did. Cancer is a bitch but I won so I want to help others do the same and then I figure everything else will fall into place.

    You are so wonderful at inspiring creative responses to your blog posts, I was busy thinking of your 5 question post from the other day…. But now you mention the bucket list! Congrats on the pending photography trip to Venice. That was on my bucket list. My husband and I went a year ago for a long weekend and it was the most perfect fabulous trip. We flew direct into Marco Polo airport, took a water taxi to the Danielli Hotel (winter rates, a “bargain”) visited the Doges Palace, Peggy Guggenheim Palazzo, saw the Bellini’s at the Accademia….went to a salon performance of La Traviatta at the opera in Palazzo. Fab fab fab! Oh did I mention tea at Florians…. Bucket list perfection! The only “problem” is that I want to go back in a seriously bad way!
    Other bucket list items:
    1) visit cousins in Cape Town
    2) write that thinly veiled trashy novel
    3) Learn to play the ukulele
