The Way to Happiness

The Way to Happiness

The way to happiness? Do you know it?

Take time to be with one another.

Listen not only to their words, but what is inside of their:

hearts (feelings), hands (what they are carrying) and their movements (what are they doing).

Be a compassionate listener.

The Way to Happiness

Culitivate that which you love.

Plant it deep within your being.

Water it faithfully with your time and energy.

Share what you have abundantly.

The Way to Happiness

Believe in those who love you.

Believe that you are loved.

Believe it when the sun is shining and especially when the sky is dark.

The Way to Happiness

Stand strong in your beautiful self,

and when you cannot ask someone for their hand,

Lean on them.

Trust that the gift you have been given is good,

even if it sometimes feels as worthy as a sack of potatoes.

The Way to Happiness

Whenever you can laugh.

Humor is a good medicine.

  1. Prayer, knitting, cooking a good meal, a hot cup of tea, exercise, studying the Bible.

  2. “There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.”
    ~ Albert Schweitzer
You can see photo evidence of this in my latest post…furry furry things preventing me from working on music.

  3. Have periods of calm to gather thoughts. Be surrounded by loved ones. Cultivate the companionship of friends. Listen, learn and be generous with your time and gifts.

  4. Rain or shine. Running the coastal trail high above the Pacific Ocean.
    For miles and miles..

  5. The way to happiness is getting up when it’s still dark…4am lighting a candle, savoring coffee from my bialetti, journaling, praying and spending time in my bible. Two hours of quiet and solitude before the day starts.

  6. Visiting blogs that have beauty such as this one, taking a walk with my camera, or savoring a warm up of tea.

  7. Simply paying attention to my breathing. Something I learned in Yoga.
    In…Out…In…Out…
And voilà! My respiration rate slows, calming me.

Corey, each morning I read your blog I am rewarded with wisdom and laughter, thank you.
Happiness is my 20month grandson, my heart is bursting with joy!

  9. Today was a day when I knew the Father of all, was at MY house. One happening after another, after spending a sleepless night worrying about a close family member…Sleep did not cover me until 3am and I awoke at 11:00 am to dread and sadness. Within 30 minutes the winds shifted and the dust from the last evening was being blown away. Peace was mine, prayers were answered, and I had a friend to lean on.
There is a God, and he was at my house this morning. I am happy once again.
Happiness is answered prayer, sewing, lace, ribbon, hot coffee with just enough warm cream to make it toffee colored…mmmm…think I will just go fix a cup!!
    love you, love your words.

  10. Meditating on God’s Word, being content and thankful for everything I do have, and can do. Blessing the ones I love.

how do you pray……when there is no faith left?

  12. What a loaded question…would take up lots of space to respond meaningfully….as I shared your blog with DH, he responded, “instead of a sack of potatoes, would you like a quesadilla for dinner?” Too much happiness!!

  13. another beautiful post. Of course, health, family, friends are a given. Birdsong, a sunny day, blue skies,a soft breeze, a beautiful cove nestled at the foot of a mountain, a cotton field, autumn leaves, beautiful music, dogs, puppy breath, baby anything, knitting, laughter, prayer, thankfulness, … your blog!

  14. Oh….and flowers, and planting a garden!

  15. In no particular order…..singing, flowers,dogs, Mahler’s 9th symphony,old things.

  16. Don’t know the answer but there seems to be pain in your question and I hope you can feel peace in what surrounds you.

  17. I’m printing a copy of this post to keep with me and read when I feel the need.
    Thanks,

  18. Knowing there is always a tender place in this world where I can cry and all will be well again.
