Au Revoir France, Hello California!

Au Revoir France, Hello California!

Au Revoir France, Hello California!

The time has come.

Our bags are packed, one suitcase full of French Linens for Mr. New Yorker, and the other suitcase holding French Husband and my clothing.

Sophie, our dear-friend-house-sitter, came last night.

I kissed Sacha, Annie and my friend Mimi goodbye and we are headed out at four in the morning.

Why do brocantes and flights from Marseille to Paris to California have to be so dang early!!

I thought about staying in a hotel by the Marseille airport, but I know I wouldn't sleep as well as I would in my own bed… even if I am only sleeping two winks.

Please if you are in the area I hope to see you at Nantucket's Open House in Chico, California

March 28th, five to eight in the evening.

  1. Safe travels!

  2. bon journee (is that right?)
ps, I want to be your housesitter!

  3. Safe journey Corey, and have a wonderful time with your family! Don’t worry about leaving behind the French elections, there’s enough of that stuff going on here in the US 🙂 🙂

  4. Have a good trip, Corey and Yann!!!

  5. Wish I could be there on Tuesday. You + Nantucket a sweet combo.

  6. True, no local baguettes and Camembert or cheap French wine. OTOH, in NorCal you can get San Francisco sourdough, Oregon Tillamook cheddar, and all sorts of California wines.
Am forwarding your Open House invitation to an Azorean-American poet friend (probably also a distant cousin of mine!) who lives in the Chico area, in hopes she can attend. Will forward you her website URL privately so you can read some of her work, which is brilliant.
Have a great time at the wedding!!!

  7. Enjoy your trip and safe travels! Wish California weren’t all the way across the U.S. 🙁 Would love to meet you.

  8. One day we two natives of Willows will meet…sadly I’ll be missing you by only about two weeks this time. 🙁
    Enjoy Willows, and Mexico!

  9. Brenda L. from TN.

Safe traveling all the way around until you and Yann arrive back home in France.
Wish I could meet/see you both at the Open House but living in Tennessee makes it impossible at this time.
We also want to see the bride and her bridesmaids and their dressess!…the cakes and the Groom and his groomsmen, too!
Have fun and don’t forget to take lots of photos of Chelsea,Mexico and Mr. New Yorker’s house!….(how nice of him to offer his house!)

  10. Godspeed, bon voyage and que te vaya bien 🙂
I’d LOVE to meet you in CA but it’s actually more likely that I’ll meet you someday in France. When I visit you, I’ll bring tortillas and other assorted Mexican goods for you now that you’ll be an honorary Mexican.
Enjoy Mexico – have a fantastic time and give us all the details. Im so happy for you.
Hasta la vista – Laura Bean

  11. Have a good trip! It’s been raining here in norCal the last two days but hopefully the weather’s a bit nicer in Willows than here in Sunnyvale. (We were just there last weekend for a race weekend at Thunderhill and the weather was gorgeous.) Sadly I’m busy the weekend of the open house or I’d entertain the thought of the 3-hour drive to meet you at your open house. Have fun!!

  12. I look forward to your travel stknow, I’ll see what I can ories and beautiful pictures. I don’t recall where you will be in Mexico, but my brother lives in Morelia. If you’re in close proximity let me do. Safe travels.

  13. Wow, I don’t know what happened to my comment. I said, “I look forward to your travel stories and beautiful pictures…”

    Bon Voyage!
Have a wonderful time with family and friends.
    Safe travels…

  15. Have a wonderful trip– enjoy your family, eat lots of tortillas, and stay safe! Oh, and wave when you drive through Woodland, where I work. (Assuming you’re flying into Sacramento.) Imagine that I’m holding a welcome sign off the West Avenue overpass and waving~ wouldn’t that be fun?
    Hugs,
    Jill

  16. have safe wonderful trip. we will look forward to hear about your trip and your big doings. God be with all of you. Bestest,Denise

  18. Yay!!!! 🙂

  19. You forgot hello to the American presidential election. I’m not sure you’re ready for it. I left my house at 4 a.m. too, but only drove to Buffalo, NY and back home to Ohio today — taking my little girl halfway back to college. Have a terrific trip.

  20. Happy travels! Wish I could come to Chico, but not possible right now. Hugs!

  21. Good travels!!!

  22. Safe travelling, have fun… Lucky Mr New Yorker living in Mexico 🙂

  23. We are all so excited that you are coming to our store! Food is being planned, wine is being purchased (we do have some good California wines) and we are trying to pull down all of the hidden cobwebs that become visible at around four in the afternoon when the sun
( hopefully) comes in the windows! Can’t wait to see you! Travel safe!

  24. Have a wonderful holiday Corey, enjoy every (EVERY) minute with your mom and family, your friends – I am so very happy that you can do that (AND take FH with you!!!!)….
I follow you in my thoughts and prayers.
    Love, Kiki

  25. Dear Jackie; it’s Bon voyage but I’m sure Corey understood perfectly well what you meant with your charming fare well wish!
and yes, PSII; wouldn’t we all be housesitter at Corey’s place? 🙂
We own a beautiful house with a gorgeous garden outside of Paris and we invite every year friends to look after house and garden when we’re away – a great way of sharing one’s happiness….

  26. Looking forward to hearing about your travels. love the clock faces…so vintage, and beautiful. Enjoy your family/friends like we know you will!

  27. Have lots of fun Corey and Yann! I look forward to many beautiful pictures Corey..

  28. God Bless your trip and give you Travel Mercy! Hope you are having fun!

  29. I love the way you write, Corey. Did you realize that it sounded as though French Husband was IN the suitcase? Not a very nice way to travel. “the other suitcase holding French Husband and my clothing.” At least your clothing was keeping him comfortable. The clothes probably smelled of you, which made him very happy.

  30. I’m catching up on your posts….and was delighted to see the lovely picture of the perpetual French calender I purchased quite awhile back from you in the posting! Welcome back home to California, sweet Corey and French Husband!!!
