Snow boots in the morning, and Heels in the evening.

It will be white, wonderful, beautiful and cold.

Wedding

Where did you marry?

French Husband and I were married in Willows, at the Catholic Church at ten in the morning.

We did not have any bridesmaids, nor groomsmen.

Nicol and Paul, parents of our godchild, were our witnesses.

I wore my Grandmother's wedding dress, and French Husband wore his father's wedding tuxedo.

It rained cats and dogs and a ton of rice!

  1. Thanks for posting. I am a little obsessed with weddings, especially those that incorporate family pieces like yours. My husband and I were married in Belmont, California at the park in the middle of the town. I wore a white cotton dress I purchased in a Paris flea market. I shoved it in my backpack after I bought it and went to the top of the Eiffel Tower for the first time that day. I also wore my mother’s wedding shoes. My husband, a Vermonter, wore a new Seersucker suit, ribbon tie, and converse sneakers. 🙂

  2. What a fabulous photograph! You both look so incredibly happy – and what a perfect dress – wow! Enjoy your trip – I absolutely ADORE weddings. x

  3. Oh, you too look adorable. What luck to have had a grandmother with fashion sense!
We were married at my parents’ blueberry farm in Kentucky in front of a babbling brook while friends and family sat on the wide wooden porch.

  4. Stay warm and enjoy the occasion.
    I love your wedding dress.

  5. Wonderful wedding photo!
We got married in our back yard. It was August in Sacramento- 100+ degrees. We used an old music box from my great grandmother that played Lohengrin and Hello My Honey.
    Have a great time!

  6. Have a wonderful time.
Married in my home church in Centralia, Washington with many friends and loved ones. My mom made 36 blackberry pies instead of wedding cake.

  7. Loved the look of your wedding photo. My husband and I got married in New York and then moved to Florida. Not as far away as France, but an adjustment all the same.
    Enjoy the wedding. Best, Lisa

  8. My husband and I got married in a Catholic church in Salon-de-Provence…I can’t remember what time, but at least I remember the day 🙂
    Have fun at the wedding!

  9. That sounds like a perfect wedding! I’ve played my harp outside in the wind, the heat, the cold, even some rain (run for cover!!!) but I’ve never played in the snow. In boots!
    Have a wonderful time.

  10. Massilianana

I got married in Manhattan City Hall on a day where it was cloudy, windy, rainy and sunny all in the same day. My wedding bouquet was a bunch of sunflowers.

  11. I once asked my aunt for grandma’s wedding dress. A very similar style to yours. She said she had given it to her aunt’s family a few years earlier. That aunt had sewn the dress and died many years earlier. Her chldren were very young when she passed away. My aunt (known for lack of diplomacy) said “It means a lot to her family and besides it would never fit you, grandma was very petite when she got married” Ouch!
Always have loved your wedding photo-so much happiness. I hope your godchild and his/her spouse have as happy a marriage as you and FH.

  12. I love weddings! We got married in a Catholic church in Scottsdale, Arizona. Both sides of family had to travel since we are the only ones in AZ. But what a beautiful wedding, reception and dance it was and the best picture was us leaving the church similar to yours — something about that moment of happiness comes through. Stay warm and don’t fall!

  13. Brother Mathew

The Catholic Church in Willows on July 21. It was 110 that day! Stay warm!

  14. Virginia

My heart caught in my throat when I saw your wedding photograph. An enchanted moment frozen forever in time. Virginia

  15. Your Godchild’s wedding sounds very exciting! I am sure you will have a fabulous time. I love that snapshot of you and FH in your borrowed finery…so full of youthful joy!
We were married in the church we grew up in…very young.
The month was January, at 4 in the afternoon and snowing.
I wore my mother’s satin wedding dress. It seems like a very long time ago…wait…it was a very long time ago!
Have fun at the wedding…hope you get a chance to take a few photos to share! 🙂

  16. I got married at the Catholic Church in Willows on November 29th at 3 pm. It rained pretty much most of the day.

  17. I see by your packing list that you’re both going commando.

  18. I love this picture every time I see it – the looks on your faces are priceless. We were married in a cemetery – not as weird as it sounds. We found a beautiful old chapel, down a wooded lane, in Orange, CA. It just happened to be in the middle of a cemetery. Stone floor, aged wood, arching ceiling – a lovely spot.

  19. what fun! Post pics please! we were married in my parents backyard at 530 in the evening september 6th. it was warm sunny and windy. 15 years this fall!

  20. Your wedding picture is so darling!

  21. Oh you are a sticker for details!
    lol

  22. Mat
    Blue skies this late afternoon,
    though tomorrow it is expected
    to snow.
    Oh!

  23. What a lovely undertaking!! 36 Blackberry Pies!

  24. It’s a requirement of my profession. And, according to Herr Mies, it’s where “god” is found.

  25. FH looks a little like Count Dracula sans fangs, don’t you think?

  26. Twenty three years and several months later, I have to say that three seconds ago I was thinking the same thing!!lol

  27. But one that you’d let bite your neck any day.

  28. You were a beautiful bride Corey, Yann cleans up nice too. Congratulations to the bride and groom.

  29. What a beautiful couple you were and are! Your godchild’s wedding sounds wonderful. Enjoy the day.
We were married in an amphitheatre on the top of a mountain. It was October and a beautiful, blue day. The reception was in the historic pavillion beside the theatre. My sister was matron of honor and her daughter was junior bridesmaid/flower girl. It was a wonderful day filled with many loved ones. I wore an old fashioned lace dress and my best friends (guys) were ushers. (I wanted them to be my bridesmaids!) We had carrot cake with mums for my wedding cake. My talented college friend played an electric piano and played an original composition for me to walk down the aisle to. The music was beautiful. We all had such fun we didn’t want to leave!

  30. Your wedding photo is beautiful and fun. The dress – swoon! We were married in a tiny church in Machias, Wa. My G.Grandfather helped build it in the early 1900’s. No attendants, just immediate family. Then the two parties to celebrate. We didn’t want a formal wedding as we were “old”, but we did want a party. We hosted one for the west side of the state and then a week later the east side. I had a blast! Have fun in Tahoe!

  31. Where haven’t I been married. Once at

  32. Saint Monica’s and once in my husband’s family vineyard in Saint Helena. Both times Franca Bollo was my witness.
    I am fortunate.

  33. So sweet! Have a lovely time and we join our best wishes for your Godchild.

  34. That is just too delightful for words Corey. I had 4 people at my wedding – the first time – and it was bliss.
The second, to the SAME man, 6 months later we had 30 – The only way he could go through with the marriage was to get married first in secret, with nobody knowing and therefore for the 2nd ceremony in front of family and friends the pressure was off! Talk about walk down the aisle jitters!……….16 years later still together and it’s just peachy.

  35. Had to go back and look again, I knew he reminded me of somebody..!

  36. What a terrific photo! Both of you look so happy! Congratulations on a successful marriage.
I was married in a little Catholic chapel built in the 1800’s with amazing stain glass windows and marble altars (it is inside a building that houses priests in a Catholic university).
We married at the end of December in the 80’s. An ice storm hit the prior night so it was icy and cold. The chapel was freezing but nobody cared. I wore my Mom’s wedding gown and she made the veil.
