Our Godchild’s Wedding

The bride

The bride, our Godchild, Brittney wore her Mother's wedding dress that she had transformed. Instead of the big puffy sleeves of the 80s she had them removed and made into a cummerbund. As the wedding was outside in the snow, she wore a wool plaid bolero.

Our Godchild was three when French Husband and I were married. She doesn't remember a thing about our wedding, and yet there were similarities about her wedding and ours, that made me thing that Godparents and Godchildren share an unconscious connection.

My Mother says, "Godchildren are often like their Godparents."

Wedding collage

To name a few of the many similarities:

Our Godchild was married at ten in the morning, so were we.

Our Godchild did not have bridesmaids nor groomsmen, either did we.

Our Godchild made her own wedding invitations, so do we…

Snowy road to the wedding

Snow on a windshield

THE BRIDE SNOW

Our Godchild married during the only moment the sun was shining. After the wedding ceremony a raging storm bloomed. She had snow, we had rain.

Snow galore, it was magical!

Cowboy boots with ruffles

Cowboy boots and ruffles.

The Groom wore black jeans, boots, a beige turtleneck with a charcoal pea coat.

Relic necklace

Our Godchild, Brittney created a souvenir necklace from an antique relic holder we gave her. The double sided glass relic holder had monograms and keys on one side, and on the other side, close to her heart, a photo of her belated Grandmother Mary.

Wedding table decor

The wedding decor table settings.

Wedding cupcakes

The wedding decor stayed true to the season and place. My cousin, Nicol, the mother of the bride, had pine wood cut into round slabs of various heights to use as pedestals to display the wedding cake and cupcakes. She add tree branches covered in moss, and pinecones.

The cupcakes had various colored lace wrappings

On one of the pine tree stumps Nicol's husband carved a heart with the intitals of his daughter and newlywed husband. That pine tree stump/pedestal held the wedding cake.

Setting up the wedding table

Nicol stuffed the large glass cynlinders with moss, pinecones, and rocks, then on top she added a chunky borwn candle that she wrapped with brown lace and twine. The glass cynlinders sat inside an iron bird nest which sat on a pine tree slab.

Ritz carlton at Northstar

The wedding and reception took place at the Ritz Carlton in Tahoe.

Christopher

The bride's cousin Christopher played the guitar and sang during the wedding. The minister was the bride's cousin's brother in law. The two flower girls were the groom's sisters.

A true family affair.

Thank you for your beautiful visit and your soulfully passionate comment getting right where I am coming from when it comes to salvage and taking those pieces tha scream out to us ask of us to give them a new life. I bet your God child is one of us creative ones taking pieces artfully and altering them giving each piece a voice, I can see her artful-ness in the creative way her wedding was, and her beautiful necklace.
I hope to see you soon, I am following you as well.

My favorite photo is of the groom kissing the bride’s forehead. That one should be blown up to billboard size for all the world to see. It is that stunning! I know it helps to have beautiful people and surroundings to photograph, but Corey, you have an AMAZING eye!
