The Contest

The Contest:

The last few times I have been home in California, I have had a contest with my five youngest nieces– Who will have the longest hair the next time I come back to visit?

Last time I was in third place.

I have to stop trimming my hair, because if I don't

I am going to be in last place very very soon!

Winning is easy

UNLESS……

I

Cheat!

Winning is easy with photoshop!

The gang missing 18

The gang… missing the other eighteen in our family.

If every one played, well Chelsea and my sister in laws- Diane and Shelley, would hold places above me, but everyone else would be in the back of the line.

Though Brother Mat is giving French Husband a run for the scissors.

Is your hair long or short?

  1. Gorgeous girls! 🙂
If your hair was as long as in your photoshopped picture, you’d need a braids-maid to help carry the load!

That’s quite a gang you have there!
I just grew out my bangs so that I can wear my hair back for zumba. My hair is just below my shoulders. It just stops at a certain point and won’t grow any longer.

  3. Congratulations, Kate!! You all have beautiful hear. Love the little guy in the last photo 😉

  4. it should be hair, sorry for my misspelling.

  5. Sadly, my whole life I’ve had short hair. The longest, shoulder length. My hair is just not thick enough and I don’t have enough of it to wear it longer. Besides it seems to stop growing once it reaches shoulder length. You all have beautiful hair in your family – great genes!

  6. What fun that you have a contest for the longest hair. My hair is long-ish. When I straighten it, it’s longer than when I leave it curly. I have to grow it longer before the humidity of the summer hits because then it just becomes a halo unless I have some weight to hold it down. The only time I want to gain weight — in my hair.

  7. What a fun thing to do with your nieces! I have short hair and wear it very texturized and messy. I’ve also let it go gray or is it silver (?) and love, love, love it. It was a bold decision, but glad I did it. I get more compliments on it now than when I had it colored and highlighted…go figure;p

  8. My hair is shorter than it was last summer.
    You are all so CUTE!

Ha! Don’t you wish you could just Photoshop your hair every day to match your mood?
I have had long hair most of my life. I kept it long because I thought harpists should always have long hair. Until last year. I cut it all off. The front is two different lengths – asymmetrical matches my unsettled, seeking and searching mood right now.
So now I’m a harpist with short hair. Funny, nobody in the audience seemse to mind…

  10. Adorable nieces and what a fun, unique thing to do. Like you, my hair is thick and longish, about the same length and it will stay that way until the end. We should wear our hair the way it is most comfortable and flattering.! I’m a decade older than you Correy, but my hair is natural white blond (the brunette left me long ago) and long.

  11. What fun!
I have always had some version of short, except for a brief time in the 80s when I rocked a permed do. OY!
It is very short these days!
Will be that way for the duration.
    😀

  12. Such lovely hair in your family, thick and shiny. My hair is on the short end lately.

  13. How very fun to have this contest with your special nieces. Love seeing the pictures.
Mine is short on one side and mostly short on the other side.

  14. Brenda L. from TN.

Mine’s short and gray….used to wear it longer but when I turned 60 I cut it. Too old for longer hair…looked silly IMO.
Your nieces are all so pretty! IT must “run” in your family! LOL!

  15. Brenda L. from TN.

Sorry! Forgot the little guy! He’s a cutie too!

  16. Such a good photo op with family….love it. That 11-year-old cutie standing in front of you, has your smile, Corey. Run, FH, run.

  17. Tamara {Delish Mag}

Mine is soooo long. Too long. I just can’t bring myself to cut it yet. I have a hard time doing anything with it as I have a severely restricted “frozen shoulder”, and so leaving it long it actually easier. My husband actually puts it into a ponytail for me most days — whatta guy!!

  18. molly amaro

Longest hair contest and Kate won 1st place and I got last place wow where are the dress’s? I looked everywhere on your blog are they going to be on tomorrow? xoxo Molly

  19. Hmmm… judging from the photos I would probably tie for first in your contest. I have been wondering lately if I am too old to wear my hair so long. Is there some rule about that? No long locks after 40, or something?
The main reason I wear mine long is that I have naturally curly hair, which makes Japanese hairdressers break out in a sweat. I never found many American hairdressers that really knew what to do with curly hair, and in Japan I have yet to find even one! The other reason I keep it long is that I simply can’t abide hair anywhere near my neck when it gets hot and humid. Must be able to have an up do!
I always love your photos with your nieces – makes me miss my own!

  20. beatnheart

You look like you could be related to me.

  21. Mine is long, we would probably tie. Closer to 60 than 50, and I will die with my Hippie hair!

  22. I agree with Zosia – you guys have great genes in the Amaro family. And I really like your long , blonde hair, Corey. Not the photoshopped hair…the real hair.

  23. I love the idea of photoshopping one’s hair into place each day, what a relief!

  24. Brenda, Walker, LA

    Sweet Easter week memories….make many!

  25. Oh Corey, that’s so beautiful … the dresses and hats were amazing … how gorgeous the girls looked! Thanks for sharing your family photos with us 🙂

  26. Sue Morris

Mine was long until yesterday, but then I had it cut to just below my chin line…..looks 1000percent better framing my small, 64year old face.
Love the pics of ‘you and your girls’…just lovely.
