A Little Heart Beat Tour Of France

A tour of France

A little heart beat tour of France… What does that mean? Well when people come over to visit us, and they do, 'cause you know France is one of the most visited countries in the world, and when those people are our family or friends, well we go on a tour of France, or I should say our neighborhood.

I can never get enough.

There is just too much goodness to take in.

And that is how it came to be… A Heart Beat Tour…

Soaking in goodness, beauty, and the whole blue wonder!

We rode our motorcycle with friends around St. Marie de Moustiers.

Cassis waterfront

We had lunch with Jani (blogging friend) and her husband Jean-Rod.

Soaking in the blue while sipping citron tea.

La Cioata

We went to La Ciotat, for dinner and to listen to our dear friend Matt play in his band.

French street market

Walked around the market in Cassis with Catherine ( a French friend).

Bought artichokes and strawberries for dinner.

Lake Saint Croix

Rode our motorcycle to Lac St. Croix with Francis and Jean-Luc, Family friends.

Tour of France with friends

Visited our friends in the holiday rental in Cassis.

Tour de France poolside

Sat poolside with them too.

Palm trees

Walked along the pier after the music played in La Ciotat.

A Little Heart Beat Tour Of France Bridge

Drove home.

Wish you were here. And when you come we will do a little heart beat tour of France too.

  1. Je me souviens — to quote the official motto of Québec (since it seems apt here as well). I wanna come back so-o-o-o-o bad!!!
I’m still thunderstruck over the marvelous huge outpouring of birthday greetings for your Annie! What does she make of all that?

  2. Some of my best memories of France were of being in Cassis and seeing that blue blue water and the callanques, then having lunch at Les Roches Blanche and swimming in the med while waiting for our bouillabase to be served. You live in a special special place. Also, I think there is a dog in Ciotat that likes to pick up little rocks and carry them around like they are chew toys.

  3. merci…corey and yann ..Xx

  4. When I come, can we concentrate our time at the Lac St. Croix?
Is citron tea like the sweet tea with lemon we have here in Kentucky?

  5. I wish I was there too! It looks so wonderful – I always loved Provence when I had the chance to be there,(mostly on the way to or from Italy) but now it feels like I never spent enough time there.
It’s all so different from the landscapes I’ve been driving around here today, open rolling farmland edged by mountains, purple-blue against huge autumn skies, vines turning russet all round the skirts of the mountain and yet so different from France’s vineyards.

  6. I would love to do the “Tour in a Heartbeat” I’m way overdue a trip to France.

  7. 3rd and 4th photos from the bottom: two-millennium-old Roman aqueduct and “iter” from Caesar’s Gallic wars?

  8. Erratum: Should read, “2nd and 3rd photos from the bottom.”

  9. ohaaaa,
    wish I was there…

  10. Alan from Chicago

So beautiful thank you for the tour

  11. Amazing! Every time I see a bit of France I want to see so much more! All of these places look incredible…

  12. Such beautiful blues….I felt like I just had a heartbeat tour from your blog. I’m just back from my daughter’s graduation in Seattle. Seattle was awash in every color of green with pastels of flowering trees.

Corey, that laast photo looks like it is taken from my favorite little hotel in Cassis by the beach…is it????Be still my heart!!!

  14. Ahhh. I would LOVE to be there!

  15. France is very lucky to have so many beautiful places.
French Husband looking magazine-photo-chic with that sweater draped over his shoulders :-).

Gorgeous pictures, what a life you have. Lovely!
Maybe I have missed reading this in one of your posts,
but, are you and hubby retired? You seem to travel
so often and for great lengths of time.
    What a blessing……….xo

  21. You’re killing me with this blog, Corey–killing me. I stumbled upon your blog a couple of weeks before you left for holiday in the America’s and I fell in love with it. I love antiques but more than anything I am a hopeless Francophile since listening to my dad speak of his service on the French/Swiss border in WWII. He was a pharmacist in a hospital and nearly married a French nurse but she could not move with him back to the U.S. at the end of the war. Today’s post put me over the edge and I had to finally comment–the “driving home” picture is insane–who drives home in such beauty?? Not me. I am from Iowa and drive thru corn and soybean fields. Visited Paris and Normandy in spring of ’10 and all it did was make me want more. I am living vicariously thru you these days, Corey.

  22. Oh Corey, you should never throw down the gantlet like that when I’m around ;-)))) I took it as a dare, so clicked on the enlargement of the photo, then blew it up further and voilà! On the 3rd floor, the 5th window from the left IS OPEN!!! (I’m pretty sure the 2nd window from the left is, too — not just the shutters but the actual swing-out window).

  23. Have fun. This post was so sweet.

  24. You’re killing me…

  25. Oh siiiiigh…you really do live in a Paradise, Corey. The scenery is spectacular! I can’t get over the turquoise blue of Lac St.Croix and how the shrubs cling to the rugged edges of the surrounding rocks. Your friend in Cassis has a wonderful sense of style, btw.

  26. Kimberly

    Absolutely dreamy!!! Blessings, Kimberly

  30. Sounds lovely, and I love your pictures. Funny thing is that I know this holiday rental in Cassis! Reading your story makes me want to be there now 🙂

  31. Enchanting pictures and scenery. I have only been to Provence once and got a taste of the wonderful colors and flavors of the region. Now I simply content myself with reading books about France and your blog. Allors……
    Best, Lisa

  32. Oh, my! To be living your life!

  33. Oh my gosh, I think I’ve stayed at that B&B. Contemporary; overlooks beach in Cassis?
What a wonderful place that was.
I always lurk. I need to post here more often. Hope to meet you some day. Was last in the area when you were in Mexico. Hope to be back in two years.
Thanks for all the wonderful pictures and stories.

  34. RebeccaNYC

I’ll be there soon!!! You almost made me change my plans, pack my bags, and leave today. My sister would kill me because her son is getting married and I would miss that….but OH!!! I can’t wait.

  35. C, this dreaming has got to stop – I’m coming!

  36. Brenda L. from TN.

Simply stunning locale. I can feel the sunshine, smell the seawater
, hear the seagulls and laughter.

  42. It’s hard to believe I was there less than a week ago!!!

  43. Oh my, that water. All the way at the end of the post, and then … swoon … bluer than blue. J’adore. Such a tour would be a dream.

  44. I have to say it’s been way too long since I’ve been by but i’m so happy to see you haven’t changed… still beautiful, generous, full of fun and living the life 🙂 So nice to drop by and say hello. Nel x (used to be @ Driftwood and Roses)

Just came back from La Ciotat last week. I am ready to go back this minute. Next time you are near La Ciotat visit Le Figerol. It’s just above Le Chantier. Beautiful secluded beach.
One of the best (imho) markets to visit is Sanary sur Mer on Wednesdays. Well worth the effort.
What is it about Provence…..to me, it is a life untouched by the likes of Walmart…it is a soft, lovely, breezy way of living. Where “fresh” matters, where there is a certain respect for all things old. The sun shines brighter, the azur blue of the waters makes its mark in one’s memory. Always calling, come back….we’re waiting for you. I’m counting the days.
