  9. Victoria Ramos

A steamer to put in a pot? Or to put in a pot to process canning jars?

  10. It looks like a repurposed barbecue grill grate.

  11. Merisi in Vienna

The Original French precursor to the Weber Grill! 😉

  12. Chris M

It is a deep dish pizza serving tray. You cut the pizza in 8 equal slices. Simply place the pizza on the serving tray, immediately the calories slip through the wires.

Hey, WE have such a rack to put in a pot when we process canning jars, that we bought new just a couple of decades ago!

  14. Curtains in my Tree

I think it goes in the bottom of an old canning pan

  15. Kathy Barrick

It’s an early, primitive RECORD PLAYER!!!!! LOLOL

  16. It must be a rack to put in a pot when processing canning jars – we have one very similar. In between season my granny usually “warmed up” yesterday’s pastries – wrapped them in a brown paper and just closed the lid…. The trick worked – they were like freshly baked, just out of aven. Something like pre-microwave. 😀

  17. a rack to put cookies, candies or pastries on to then drizzle runny icing over them or to ice petit fours…..

  18. Krista G.

An old cake decorating stand! (Of course they would need to line the bottom somehow!)

  19. But I started to think about why so many glasses around in pictures… so there might be another thing to use it – turn the glasses up and let them dry… Glass rack?

  20. Glass display, drying and storage rack for a cafe counter.

  21. Kathie B

I keep thinking about the post in the center, to which a rigid loop is attached, as a handle. Perhaps it’s a rack for a bain marie?

  22. I think it is a cooling rack for food taken just out of the oven.

  23. O also think it is for water bath cooking (bain marie), to stop the creme brulee custard from getting water in it?

  24. Is it a tray for cupcakes or sweet treats?

  25. A plant rack?

  26. I know. This is an antique fruit stand. It is made this way so the fruits and vegetables can breathe and not ripen or spoil too fast. I can see it covered in beautiful strawberries and apricots.

  27. Melissa Paruzel

Glass stand. Canning rack. I thought it was a cake stand though I am not sure of the bottom piece. Too curly, like to hang something.
The other thing came to mind was it might be a cheap version of a chandellier. Put those glass candle holders that has wires on and around, with candles attached, of course and viola! Candellier! To dine outdoor and have romantic lights flickering above. Sure beats the normal candle holders on the table and plus, on a small dining table for 2, it is much more better to have wine and oysters than well, candle holders!

The framework for the first Roomba. A guide for planting seeds in a circular pattern. A drying form for fabric flowers used by a hatmaker? A cooling rack for pizza slices or a tart.

  34. jennifer heck

it’s for a huge canning pot! it’ll hold lots & lots of jars!

  35. Is it a glass drying tray?

  36. Corey!
My spouse, who is a chef, says that i could be used as a grill or a parrilla ( you should know this because you just returned from The Yucatan!) Or , if it is raining you could hang your beautiful French undies to dry on it . OR, it could have something to do with dying fabric and dipping the entire thing from the loop on the top into a giant vat of gorgeous color. If it is none of those things it is definitely a sausage rack.

  37. Love this!

  38. christine

A shield against Cupid’s arrow – plenty of spaces for the arrow to slip through 😉

  39. Not sure if the glasses in the pictures to give us a hit or to confuse 🙂 Don’t know the original use of this rack. I see many ways I could use it – 1.to display all the spice antique bottles with pretty stoppers; 2. display collection of perfume bottles or colorful nail polishes; 3. herbs potted in small antique clay pots in the kitchen; 4. or filled with glasses for champagne tasting night!
or maybe for cheeses? each triangle for different kind of cheese.
    🙂

  40. Delphine Hudson

It is a cake cooling rack!

  41. It’s a old fashioned dish washer. Put the glasses on, lower into a hot pot of water,
and soak, swish, then repeat in rinse water. When your done, you kick back with a sparkling glass and enjoy a nice glass of Champagne.

  42. tamara giselle

You hang it outside and attach tiny hooks to dry your unmentionables…very lacy ones preferably.

  57. Corey Can I have another guess? Just looking at it again I noticed the lip around the edge and think maybe it might be for eggs. Part of a hatchery? Or just egg storage of some kind. I’m so curious now…. Judy
