The tale of the Kitten.

My Brother Mat, the one who dislikes the brocante, sent me an email last night. In the email he asked me to ask you something… but before I show you the email, I must confess what I asked him:

Dear Brother Mat,

I'm gonna post the email you sent me tomorrow is that okay? I'll just make one change, Instead of starting the letter like you did with plain boring, "Corey,"

I am gonna edit it to say what you really mean:

"My Dear Wonderful Loving Sister That I Adore,"

Love you C.

———-

My Brother Mat wrote back and said I could make the changes I wanted.

But I don't need to show you that letter, right? You can take my word for it okay?

Corey, "My Dear Wonderful Loving Sister That I Adore,"

Just got back into Willows and read all the blogs I missed this week.  Loved the post with Sacha photos.  The Kitten is a rescue-orphan and we (Shelley) has been trying to find a home for her.  This Kitten is very cute, playful and a joy to have around but it must go as we already have three others as you well know.  I have been watching it and I can tell that it has excellent bloodlines and will be a top notch mouser.

Anyway you were asking who it belongs to and the answer is nobody as it needs a home….soon.  Dad or Zane would have already taking this "cat for a ride".
Please let everyone in blog-land know that the cat is up for adoption.

Love
Brother Mat

dear brother of wonderful corey…thanks for sharing the need for a home for the special kitten. she reaches so many that i bet at the end of the day, she’ll have a home. in the meantime, happy 4th…imagine willows will have fireworks..

  2. Cheryl ~ Casual Cottage Chic

Our home already has six (yes, 6) kitties…all rescue kitties that now range in age from 7 years old to 2 years old. I’m a softie (hubby says “chump”) for rescue kittens. But alas we live too far away to take in this cutie. Does your mother have “room” for her/him? Maybe you can talk your brother into taking the kitten…the three he has needs a new team member to even it out. And like I always say, one more is just a tad bit more cat food but lots of love in return!

P.S. Did Sacha make it safely to Mexico? Read of so much violence in Mexico and worry that he is an easy target for a mugging/theft. I pray all your young ones are safe while in Mexico!

  4. Brother Mathew

No Cheryl I have already been “talked into” the three we already have.

  5. martina

If the kitty was in Seattle, my neighbors would adopt it. Judging from Mat’s pleading note and those nice photos, kitten will finda home soon. It sure would be a nice companion for your Mama, if she was willing to adopt.

  6. Amy Kortuem

That’s EXACTLY how I got the three cats I have now…I hope someone gives this little darling a home!
(By the way, I do that kind of thing to my brother, too – you know, correct him when he addresses me as plain old “Amy” when he could be calling me “Oh Great Divine Big Sister.”)

  7. Corey, I thought you were going to say that Sacha was shipping the new kitty home to you to care for until he returns. But alas I know cats/dogs are not as well loved as the brocante, lol. We’ve never been able to have cats as all of my family except for me are highly allergic. I hope someone’s heart melts for her.

  8. Marilyn

If I didn’t already have two cats in my house I would definitely want this one. It is quite cute. Good luck finding a home.

  9. Jeannie

Oh, adorable. I think Mathew must have that same sign on his house that I have. It is invisible to the human eye, but stray cats (and dogs) see it and know there is person living here that has a soft heart. Kind of like the hobo marks during the Depression. Sorry, I have 3 and 3 more that would like to move in. I hope “kitty” finds her forever home.

Dear Matt…I live to far away to rescue your little kitty. Here’s what you do…you go to Walmart and sit out in the parking lot, and try to find an intelligent human who would love to have a kitty. (Note; an intelligent human.)
Happy 4th and may your fires crack!! lololo

if i was much closer,i would take her in aβ™₯beat. I LOVE CATS! have since little and tigers are my favorite. i say you should keep her. what’s one more and they practically take care of themselves. and they keep on giving. i invision myself as an old old lady, living alone and a house full of precious cats. of course i can do without the smell, but it will be taken care of. KEEP HER! Bestest,Denise

Dear Brother Matthew, we have two kitties and one doggie already, not to mention I live on the east coast. Please don’t take the kitty to WalMart to give away. Unlike you, there are too many horrible people out there who are not nice to little creatures. If you cannot find this little beauty a home, please bring it to a no-kill shelter where she is sure to find a home. I will be glad to pitch in for the fee and could send you money through Paypal if you’d like. Or a check. Whatever works for you πŸ™‚ Just contact me through my blog and I’ll be MORE than happy to help πŸ™‚ As you’ll see from my sidebar, I’m kind of an animal nut πŸ™‚ haha

    Hi Cheryl,
Yes,Sacha made it here safe !
I have honestly never felt scared or in danger since i’ve been here… Mexico is a beautiful country and the people have been extremely loving and welcoming to me. It’s almost hard to believe the things i read in the media about all the violence… but Thank you for your prayers !

One of my most favorite dogs was Ranger Dog, a champagne-colored cocker spaniel who wandered up to us one Fourth-of-July holiday weekend. What little hair he still had was matted with dirt clods, but he had a collar with tag so we kept him to call the vet after the weekend. Previous owner said he’d found him too and that the high energy of this 2-year-old cocker was too much for an apartment with two other dogs as well, so he’d given him away. Next “owner” hadn’t retagged him, nor did they hang onto him long.
We wish we knew the story of how he managed to travel for a number of miles and past two freeways to get to our inner city home in Houston, back then. (I envisioned his story as a Disney movie, being narrated by that gravelly-voiced guy who would say, “Welllll, Old Smokey jest didn’t know WHUT ta do.”)
We already had dogs and didn’t need another, so we prayed “Dear Lord, please give this dog a good home, NOT OURS.” To which God said “okay” to the first part and “ha!” to the second.
Ranger lived the next 15 or so years with us. What a good dog and a delight. Mat, pray for a good home for Mouser. And good luck.

Brother Mat should keep the kitten and start a kitty blog. They are even more popular than brocante blogs. With four kitties, Brother Mat can post a variety of pictures every day and no doubt make big bucks on the kitty calendar he’ll sell some day. (I guess I’m no help because my cat with the extra toes has declared no new kitties in our house.)

    Dear Matt,
You’re not feeling too much pressure, are you?

  17. Franca happens to be in Chico this 4th……

  18. Joan Thodas

Hey Mat, we have 6 barn cats already who would probably beat up on that little cutie. All I ask is that you don’t give it to Craig! Cousin Joan

  19. Violet Cadburry

Remember the old saying, don’t look a gift kitten in the mouth. Every family has room for one more cat, especially a mouser. It might save your life someday by running right in front of you as you leave the house distracted to step down the stairs, causing you to stop and curse and look down at the big fat rattlesnake coiled waiting to strike. But for the little kitty, you would have been toast. Meow.

  20. I’d love to take that adorable kitten in my arms if only I wasn’t traveling cross country. Kitty has the sweetest face. Reminds me of my long ago Muffin.

  21. Brother Mathew

A blog by me brocanting is more likely to happen.

  22. Brother Mathew

    CRAIG!!

  23. Brother Mathew

    Thanks for the tip.

  24. Brother Mathew

If you mean that everyone else in the family including myself loves this kitten and the longer she stays the more part of the family and the wonder of what kind of mouse hunter and the pride that we have found/rescued the most adorable…….kinda.

  25. Tongue in Cheek

    lol!

  26. Tongue in Cheek

    Well said!
You can call the Cat “Maybe”.

  27. Beverly

Wait a minute..what does this “going for a ride” mean?
Sounds pretty ominous..Did your Father and brother dispose of unwanted kittens in nefarious ways ??
    I am shocked!

  28. mary blanchard

Good Luck finding her a home but alas I cannot. Maybe you should call her Independence. By now my father would have known it was destiny that the family would be keeping her especially since everyone loves her.
    Is there a cat rescue?
    Happy July 4th πŸ™‚

  29. Chris Wittmann

You’d be amazed how cats get used to newcomers…over the years we took in so many strays that at one time we had 28 in our farmhouse. I think they should keep that adorable kitty. The other cats will soon get used to it and it may even make them act like kittens themselves having a little one to play with!

  30. Cheryl ~ Casual Cottage Chic

We have 6 kitties and all have entered our home at different times over the past 7 years…they get along well, play together, sleep piled on each other, lick/kiss each other. Cats are very compatible creatures πŸ™‚

  31. Cheryl ~ Casual Cottage Chic

Sounds like you’re going to open your home and heart and keep her. Yeah!!!!!! Happy 4th of July πŸ˜‰

  32. Cheryl ~ Casual Cottage Chic

You are probably staying in safer parts of Mexico. Good to hear you are enjoying your adventure πŸ˜‰

  33. Hello Brother Mathew….by looking at pictures of this sweet kitten, I’m sure you asked your loving sister to post that the kitten was up for adoption…wink….wink. Would the routine be something like answering to adorable wife….”I tried to find ‘Independence’ a home but no one would adopt the kitten….guess we’ll have to keep it.” The clue was when you described it as a great mouser. ah-huh…think there is some bonding there. Best of luck finding a new home for kitten…wink…wink..

  34. Brother Matt, as Donna @ an enchanted cottage said – don’t take the cat to Walmart to give her away. I wish I could take her but I’ve got 4 dogs and a cat already and my hands are full, plus I live in the east coast. But if you need money to send her to a no-kill shelter, I would also be happy to help out.
She loves lovely (kind of looks like my little cat) and I hope she finds a good home really soon. Keep us posted.
Are you reeeeaaaallly sure you can’t keep just one more????? πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Hmmmm….I really don’t see that cat going anywhere. Happy 4th of July.

I dont BELIEVE this!!!!!!!!!I just adopted a CAT on TUESDAY from the pound!I would have taken your kitty in a minute as that would have given me a VERY GOOD reason to drive NORTH!I didnot read the other comments but hopefully another soul will take……….let me know if its still in a need of a good home!

  37. Rebecca in the pacific northwest

As if Mat would do a kitty-a-day blog. Hey Mat, maybe a kitty-in-a-brocante-a-day blog!
Just remembered about the tiny kitten I had to “fatten up” just for a week so the shelter would take him instead of euthanizing him cause he was less than 2 pounds. He kept escaping the pens I had him contained in for that week, so I kept making them more and more elaborate.
At week’s end, he’d earned the name Houdini, and was ours. (Sneaky shelter people.)
