France, Along the French Mediterranean

France, the French Mediterranean

A few postcards along the French Mediterranean.

Summertime on the Mediterranean… where the days stay late into the night.

Blue and inviting.

 Bandol.

Walking along the coast, one village to the next, like collecting seashells, each one is prettier than the last one, and you want to find just one more

Twilight doesn't mean the end of the day.

If you come to provence, make sure to take in the small ports:

La Cioata, Cassis, drive along the Route de Crete, Bandol, Toulon, walk along the stone wall seaside path at Cap Ferrat, or go in land Turbie, Peillon… or take the train de Merveilles from Nice into the countryside, I promise you, you won't regret it.

Just beautiful. The train ride looks like the coast of California, with one important exception…the water is blue and clear.
Years ago (the 80s) we took the Train Bleu from Paris to Saint Raphael overnight. It was an old train, not high speed, with wood and brass interiors. A wonderful experience I will never forget.

  9. Wonderful.
We are finally having a summer (for now) and so I’m no longer jealous when I see your beautiful summer photos of the south of France. Did that sound awful? I hope not.

Summer and water just go together. Beautiful places to dream of. I can almost put myself in these photos and feel the warmth of the sky and the coolness of the water. Beautiful places, beautiful photos.

Thanks so much Corey, I am heading back to France to do one of tours in September and this time taking some guests to Cassis and the surrounding area. Whilst I know, love and adore Cassis I haven’t done too much exploring into the neighbouring villages so thanks for the road map! What a pity the Calanques are going to be closed, they are SO beautiful.
