Eat Less Move More

Eat Less Move More

How is it going?

For me, eating less is not hard to do, its a piece of cake…

though I could move more, but that is rarely my first choice.

Actually never my first choice unless it has to do with:
1) Dancing.
2) Going to a brocante.
3) Planning a party.
4) Dancing at a Brocante Party.

What is easier for you?

Eating Less

or

Moving More?

  1. Both are difficult, but eating less seems to be the hardest for me to do. Moving is difficult when I sit at this computer too long, but I do love to walk with my camera, swim, and putter in the garden.

The main time that moving more is easier for me is when I’m walking with my good friend Martha — we walk and walk on a route that takes about an hour, and our mouths move faster even than our feet! What wonderful togetherness we enjoy, and at the end we’re proud of how much we’ve exercised and have hardly noticed it. Only thing is, we can only do that once a week. Now that my fall activities are getting in gear, it’s harder to walk as much as I was.
The last few days have been stressful so I threw eating less out the window. Back to it again now though. I keep being amazed at how I am encouraged by this cadre of your readers who are mostly working together on this. It really helps! And the non-judgmental part is excellent too. thx, everyone!

  3. Today is a vacation day. An hour hike on a switch back trail was super. Definitely need to move more and find moving easier than eating less. Oh and then DH and I stopped at a local cafe and I had the best BLT, dry on rye bread.

  4. Beautiful photo Corey.

  5. Love watching your journey! Gives me a sense of a running down this road with a “virtual” partner. I gave up Diet Coke, drinking more water, less beer more gin and diet tonic and increasing my workout sessions from 1-2 days a week to 2-3 days a week…baby steps, hopefully adding walking to make it 5 days a week.
Now off to a fun filled weekend with our friend Laurie SF and our childhood/high school friends!
    Thank you for your inspirations!

  6. By far eating less is harder. I really do enjoy exercising but how I love food. I lost 1.1 lbs. this week and I was able to tighten my watch band by one hole, woohoo.

  7. corey the picture at the beginning of this post is so pretty-you look so young and so cali ….for me i think it is eating less-as soon as i put restrictions on anything, unconsciously i engage in that type specific behavior- more-(i think it is a rebellion of sorts!) my parents were not uber strict, but i have always had a problem being told what to do even if it is me telling me what to do-i don’t mean bosses at work-just THE MAN, whoever the man might be, and i do the opposite-so this whole program of eat less move more is about softening the lines of absolutes-if i eat more -i forgive easier than in my youth- so …i have to know i can eat something if i want-i love movement but must be natural- no gym routines- i did that in my youth, too-too restrictive, for me. I like walks swimming gardening etc so if i had to choose eating less is harder-i enjoy everyone’s comments and cheer ALL THE PROGRESS no matter the size and i thank you for providing the forum for us to do so-KEEP UP THE MOVEMENT GIRLS UNTIL WE TALK AGAIN HAPPY FRIDAY FILLE…

  8. Lovely photo Corey! Moving more is easier for me, and it usually comes in the form of heavy-duty gardening chores, or walking.
With Fall coming, it will be alot easier to do both as I hate hot humid weather. Of course more moving sometimes means bigger appetite too, especially as the days cool down and I think about gingerbread and apple pies 🙂

  9. Eating less is easier for me. When I was in Jr. High
and Sr.High, I walked 3 mi. to school and 3 mi. home. It was great. I walked with friends and we always stopped at a little grocery store and bought a bottle of coke…the real coke. I weighed 117 in my senior year, and it was probably because of the walking.
Since being an adult, I hate…can you hear me? HATE walking! My chest starts hurting, the muscles in my arms start aching….so..I don’t walk for exercise. Now, I have been known to go to Target or Lowes and walk for a while, but mostly browse. I work in the yard, and around the house. I know I could loose wt. if I moved more…but I would rather eat less.
And besides, my friend said that walking wears your parts out! funny woman.
    You look great Corey.

  10. You’re looking lovelier than ever, Corey. xoxo

  11. You are beautiful Corey! Beautiful picture of you.

  12. I’m doing both the eating less and moving more. Have been for 6 weeks and have lost 2kgs which is 4.4lbs. It’s not easy but I’m going to keep trying! P.S. You look gorgeous in that photo!

  13. An older fourth-cousin I discovered a few years ago through an Azores genealogy website and his lady friend flew to town this week en route from California to the East Coast, so we finally got to meet after so much emailing! On the one hand, we did what passes for a lot of walking for me; on the other, we had dinner out at nice restaurants both evenings, so I’d guess that the two activities were a wash, calorically speaking 😉

  14. I’m with you on this one. Eating less is easy, but motivation to move is much more difficult. I think this is where friends come in. I need someone to show up at my door and move with me or else I just don’t do it.

  15. Eating less for me at the moment, I love to move but my daughter is too small for me to cart around everywhere, we live at the seaside and the pavements are not very walk or even bike friendly. I do love the energy of walking and the thoughts that come with it. x

  16. Corey, forget about eating/moving … I LOVE your long hair!!! That is a really nice photo, you look classy, elegant European girl 😉

  17. Eating less is impossible — and it’s not like I eat that much, but whenever I try to limit myself, I start craving things. Moving more is easy for me. I walked to the football game last night. I went on a pizza crawl and walked 4.5 miles for a total of two and a half pieces of pizza (I split them with a friend). Plus I run in the mornings. Today, I’m going to go do some yoga before I go teach creative writing class.

  18. I am enjoying this shared journey of Eat Less, Move More. The eating less part is just alright. It is not too hard because the garden tomatoes are ripe and delicious. And surprisingly satisfying. Moving more is a different story. I bought a pedometer just to find out how much I move (or don’t). It is suggested that we move about 10,000 steps a day. That’s about 4 miles. If I make no special effort I walk about 5,000 steps and about half of what I know would help me feel more awake, and vital. Some of this journey is to stop fooling myself and be honest. Thanks for sharing the trip.

  19. Eating less is definitely harder for me. But since we’ve started this journey with you, I am much more mindful of what I put in my mouth. I walked the beach every day this week so the moving more was easy. Thanks for the motivation, Corey. Great photo of you!

  20. Corey – you are beautiful, your home if spectacular, and most importantly, your family loves you.
What would be gained by losing a few pounds? I love the idea of eat less and move more (which is much easier for me), but I’ve spent too many years beating myself up for being a six 10 and not a size 6.
Maybe it’s time we all love our own bodies like we do our friends’ bodies, for all of its curvy beauty!

  21. C, your photo is lovely . . .eating less is easier. I simply can not find the motivation to move. Lost 8 lbs. months ago to gain 2 back. Gotta admit, clothes fit better. . .reality is our older bods need less fuel. I have just got to start getting to some class or gym to save whatever muscle mass is left. Great post to know I’m in the battle with others:)

No weight loss for me this week. When I changed my eating habits the first 20 lbs. just fell off. Now I seem stuck. So I guess that means that I must move more. Eating less and healthier is easier for me. The weather is finally cooling here a bit so I guess I’ll have to try walking more. My neighborhood is very hilly so it’s a good workout.
Cory your picture looks lovely. You have awesome hair.

  23. Beautiful picture of you, Corey!
I was in Rome last weekend – so near and yet so far! Did not make it to the flea market, as I was jetlagged. Ah, well…..

  24. I like so very much your hair like this

  25. I am struggling, I have been moving more since the school holidays are over and I am back at work, but as ever with the stress of being back at work I eat more of the wrong things, mainly because food is secondary, often being so far down my list when I do remember it is so late I eat junk!!
