Every Saturday I focus on a different artist that I admire. From potters to painters, chefs to collectors, seamstress to songwriters, lifestyle to lovers… anyone who set the paintbrush, pastry brush, hands and heart on fire to create.
Those who inspire art to flow where it may…Sania Pell.
"Sania Pell is an author, interiors stylist and designer from London. She is known for her creative input and bringing a unique, handmade aspect to her photographic shoots for publications such as Elle Decoration, The Sunday Telegraph and The Mail on Sunday."
"Sania has a degree in textile design from Edinburgh College of Art. She was approached at the New Designers graduate show by one of London’s top textile design studios where she then worked for seven years, producing designs using materials such as paint, ink, collage and embroidery for both fashion and furnishing fabrics."
"During this time she gained valuable commercial experience designing for different markets including Europe, the US and Japan. She also travelled to trade shows and
on sales trips to Tokyo, Kyoto, Paris, Como and Frankfurt. Her designs were sold worldwide and purchased by companies including Armani, Monsoon, Laura Ashley, Gap and M&S."
"After a successful textile career she wanted a new challenge and retrained as an interior stylist, working on photo stories for numerous magazines and newspapers, as well as for commercial clients and publishing companies. During this time Sania was also invited back to Edinburgh College of Art as a visiting lecturer on two occasions, working on projects with the textile design students."
"Following some decorating project stories she had completed for Elle Decoration and Easy Living magazines, she made the step into writing craft projects for two books by Ryland Peters & Small in 2005 and 2006."
"After her second child was born in early 2007, Sania took time out from styling to spend more time with her family but started to work on ideas and projects for her own book – The Homemade Home. This book was commissioned by Cico Books in early 2009 and published in April 2010."
Sania lives and works in West London with her husband and two young children.
