Each Saturday I focus on a different artist that I admire. From potters to painters, chefs to collectors, seamstress to songwriters, lifestyle to lovers… anyone who set the paintbrush, pastry brush, hands and heart on fire to create.

Those who inspire art to flow where it may…. Amy Hanna

Amy Hana will be teaching a class at Jenny Doh's studio crescendoh, on Nov 3rd.  The class is called Belts, Bracelets and Straps , you can go here to sign up.

The class will take pieces of leather, badges various textiles then sewing them together to create straps that can be used for a variety of things.  Additional odds and ends are added to create one of kind belts, a strap for a bag or a bracelet. Amy Hanna will supply one belt buckle and a smaller buckle for a bracelet for each person along with leather and additional bits.

Amy's creativity knows no end. Her bright personality is contagious too! During the class Amy says, "I will help you to use up some of your stored treasures and open up your eyes to look at thing differently. You could bring a vintage needlepoint that you have been saving or an old torn canvas."

Years ago Amy asked me to source for her some French jewelry bits for her incredible jewelry collections. My sense of jewelry changed that day. Amy's jewelry remains one of my favorite.

Aren't these straps clever! I love the texture, the off beat, hippy feel of them.

Endless possibilities: Belts, purse straps, apron ties, bracelets, tie backs for curtains….

Amy doesn't get caught up with things having to match or textures going together. She breaks rules thus opening massive highways for creativity to expand.

Amy's art flows. I love her mix, her taste, her style.

Amy says, "Vintage cloth books have amazing illustrations on them. Old military patches and badges also add great color and texture."
