Lunch on Sunday, the table is dress with a flowered cloth, a soup tureen and a bottle of wine waiting to be uncorked.

A blue vase, an antique one at that, holding a orange flower that

matches the color of the pumpkin soup.

Family gathers, to enjoy the last days of summer-

Lunch in the garden.

"Ah," notes the writer of this story, "The trim on your bonnet matches the soup!"

The little girl looks down, shaking her head, "That doesn't mean Chocolate."

The table holds souvenirs of the feast.

A rumpled napkin,

a last drop of wine in the glass,

a bite out of a bun,

the echos of conversation.

Enjoy watching the last days of summer transform into Fall.

We’re having some beautiful New England Fall weather, enjoying every moment but with company arriving (on short notice) tomorrow I’m diving around the house trying to tidy up. I’ve spent so many afternoons canning and freezing vegetables and it looks like a disaster in my kitchen…so, I must forego the beautiful day and stay inside to clean. Not happy about that, but at least it’s a good start to the Fall clean up!

  2. Love visiting the Musee d’Orsay. One of my favorite museums.

Lush and lovely post, Corey. I am transported to the South of France, and the delectable Sunday table, just by taking a peek at Tongue in Cheek today. It’s Sunday morning in Chico with cheery bands of pink clouds outside the window. We are preparing for fall around here.
    Merci and Cheers, Heather

  5. We enjoyed the first day of fall yesterday. Today feels like November. I am clinging to Indian Summer. Telling myself if I wish hard enough, it will last until spring bulbs are blooming. I do this every year. I will not give up hope. I do not want to shovel snow. Perhaps I’ll paint my room sunshine yellow and live in it until spring. Wishing you summer like days and a heart full of joy.

  7. We were unscathed, but a good deal of the outlying parts of our region had their first frost of the season last night. Farmboy Husband also spent part of yesterday afternoon repairing our furnace, which had conked out last spring. Can wintry Northeastern US weather be far behind? How I wish I were in California, or Provence!

We had a Sunday lunch together with my father who was visiting us. We had it inside but we had “apéritif” outside, which made us hope for an Indian summer…
The weather’s turned horribly windy and wet since then… NO DOUBT it is autumn !!!
