Saturday Art Saves: A Mother’s Love

thanksgiving

Every Saturday I focus on a different artist that I admire. From potters to painters, chefs to collectors, seamstress to songwriters, lifestyle to lovers… anyone who set the paintbrush, pastry brush, hands and heart on fire to create.

Those who inspire art to flow where it may… My Mother.

My Mother is the most creative woman I know. Her taste is flawless. Her energy unmatchable. Her commitment to family, home and hearth- steadfast. Her gifts are numerable, especially when it comes to creating. Name a theme, pick a place, set a budget at ten dollars and my Mom can whip out something amazing without even a second of stress or doubt.

Her home.

Her shop.

Her Garden.

Her Cooking.

Her love.

My Mother's bag of creativity is unmeasurable!

But more than her unmeasurable bag of creativity, is her generous heart.

Loved

A Mother's Love.

It is hard to write the depth of what I feel for someone who is woven in every part of my being. My Mother is my champion of what I hold to be good and true. How fortunate I am to be given a Mother who knows how to love and lead the way. I imagine how very lost I would be if my mother wasn't the rock of certainty and faithfulness that she is.

How many times have I called her to know something as simple as how many eggs does that recipe take, to wanting her opinion on a decision I need to make, to ask her for her prayers, and her guiding light to shine upon me when I am weak or afraid.

My mother has been my rock of certainty and faithfulness. She is wise, and I trust her.

A Mother's heart can open wide enough to hold whatever comes their way, and strong enough to scoop up the storm and set it at ease.

IMG_2mom and I

My Mother is a nuts and bolts kind of woman. Practical with no frills. Dust rag in one hand, and a plate of cookies in the other. Being busy is her best friend. The words "sit down" do not relate to her. If ever you give my Mother a compliment she will brush it aside, saying, "Oh gee!" then she will make a clicking sound with her tongue. She is that predictable, and never late.

My Mother is a do-er, with a generous heart.

xoxo

See you soon Mom!

Happy Birthday!

  6. Corey, you obviously both learned and inherited your creativity in considerable measure from your Mom. But it would be interesting to know from whom she acquired hers (if she knows) — whether it was one or both of her parents, other relative, a teacher, a neighbor — if she’d be willing to share this background with you (and, by extension, with us). Hope your Mom has a great day, with good company, good health and good weather!

  7. Happy Birthday Mrs. Amaro!

  8. Happy Birthday Dolores!!! Corey, what a beautiful post about a beautiful woman. She has the same qualities that I loved about my Grandmother – especially the dust rag in one hand and a plate of cookies in the other. (Although, the dust rag was usually for me and the cookies were the reward. LOL!)
Wishing you and your Mom a wonderful time together next week. Celebrate!!!

  9. Well Happy Birthday to you sweet Mother of Corey!!! Your daughter is a perfect example of a child well loved, and nurtured in her young years, and still today.

She remained totally independent, living alone, driving her own car, cooking and cleaning and caring for herself. 87 years old. Hug your mom for me when you see her..:)
