Eat Less Move More… The Next Ten

Eat Less Move More

Eat less move more, it works.

These last three months of simply eating less, and moving more have paid off.

Ten pounds worth.

I average about 1200 calories a day, that is the amount of calories I need to maintain this weight with what I do in a day.

Eat Less Move More

My goal is to lose ten pounds more. Realistically I know to do that I need to exercise more. I cannot and do not want to eat less. I live in the land of good food, and those 1200 calories are consumed quickly enough. I do not want to go on a special diet that is going to curtail the joy of eating in France. Nor am I going to sit at a beautiful table with family and friends and nibble on a carrot.

Move more is biting at my heels.

Another thing, I don't want to lose another ten pounds only to regain them slowly back.

What I know to be true is that I have to maintain what I am doing now (eating less, moving more) for the rest of my life, otherwise those ten lost pounds will come back quickly.

To lose more is to make a serious commitment to exercising several times a week forever.

Forever is such a challenging word. I prefer the opposite partner Spontaneous to forever… and movies, reading, cooking, brocanting, taking photos, listening, talking… to exercise.

So now what??? How to lose ten more is going to be interesting. A commitment and change.

Should I do dance in the morning, and never sit still?

  1. Me, not so good. Love to eat and have been missing my swimming. Must swim and walk more and cut portions of food. Congratulations on 10lbs. lost, I hope they stay lost forever. I am sure you feel better for having lost them.

  2. Do you want to climb the Ste Baume with me?

  3. You like to dance…put on some music and dance (wildly) to it for 1/2 to 1 hour every day. You would be surprised how easy it is when you love to dance! Best of luck to you. (You look terrific !) N

  4. try juicing. mostly veggies – has helped me but i now know i can’t eat 3x a day. i just don’t burn those calories anymore. so mostly juice, 2 or 3 small ones and one small meal.

  5. I am making a commitment to exercise long-term. I only have to watch some of my older members who did not take care of their health and it makes me recommit again. I’m down 14.5 lbs. I lost 1.1 lbs this week. I am exercising a lot. But the program that I’m on, I get those calories back to eat!!! Good job. Do zumba it’s a lot of fun!

  6. You look great, Corey!
Dancing seems like a good option and zoomba is pretty popular these days. Whatever you decide to do, have fun doing it.

    Yes!

Take a BRISK 45 minute walk right after you eat breakfast or lunch. Every day. It works and it’s easy and fun. No strain on the body 🙂

I think adding more movement into daily life is the way to go, for me. Instead of taking the subway, I ride my bike to work several times a week (10 miles round trip…takes as long as the subway does). Since I don’t have a car, I walk everywhere often carrying heavy loads. Other than my weekly yoga session, I cannot bring myself to do an organized excercise. Now…eating less? I’m not so good at that yet….

  10. Get a puppy. Mine insists on going for walks every morning and other times throughout the day. So what if it is windy and rainy she says…fresh air is good for people and chiens! Wouldn’t you know it, because of this, I’ve not put on the usual autumn comfort food weight.

MORE SEX WITH FRENCH HUSBAND??????????Could be like dancing!!!!!!!!!

  12. Corey…Three years ago I lost 20 lbs. I have kept it off by a daily “brisk” walk. During this time I have lived in Connecticut, spent a few months in Maine, and California for a year. Now I live in France and find a daily walk of 4 miles (with hills) keeps the weight off and my body toned. It takes about an hour. Try it! No gym, no equipment; you can do it anywhere.

The law of inertia states that it is the tendency of an object to resist a change in motion.
A body at rest will stay at rest.
A body in motion will stay in motion.
The most difficult is going from rest to motion..
Slip into your walking/running shoes, go outside, look up, breath, and go..
    Give it ten minutes..
Most likely you’ll keep going, as an object will stay in motion….xo

Rather than going into the darkness of winter, you are blooming in colour of Springtime! Keep up the attitude with a sprnig in yor walk with the freshness of light dining. No cocooning until Christmas.

  15. Congratulations, Corey, you look great!
I haven’t excercised very much but surely I’m going to do zumba at home now, thank you so much for the video link.

  16. i find it funny that when we are kids we love being in active or working out but then when we get older we suddenly hate it! Recently, I have gotten into working out and I love it!! I NEVER thought I would say that. Here were some of the things that really helped me:
    1. buy workout clothes! if you feel comfortable, confident, and cute you will definitely be more likely to hit the gym.
    2. some people feel more able to push themselves in the morning, afternoon or night. find what time works for you! I like having my coffee and quiet time in the morning but can’t work out then. Working out in the evening is nice because I feel like I get to stretch my legs after a long day
    3. try new things!! take a zumba class, walk outside, swim, lift weights… see what really floats your boat and you will be more likely to do it!
    4. have a set exercise schedule. if your work out times change every week you will probably be less likely to do them.
    — as a side note. so often women think that to lose weight they need to do tons of cardio. lifting weights won’t make you bulky or look like a man!! I have found that i like my shape a lot more when I lift heavier weights. My butt is higher, my thighs more shapely (not wide ha), etc. And this way, i may not have seen the numbers go down on the scale because my muscle weighs more than fat but I can clearly tell in the mirror that I have lots more fat than ever! And muscles burn fat just by existing, so I can count less calories.
Hope that helps!! YOU CAN DO IT!!

  17. You look fantastic Corey!
    I lost three pounds! Woot.

  18. hello nice blog

  19. Corey,
Walking, walking, walking..I think is the key. I work in a 12 story building and sit a lot. Three times a day I run down to the first level and walk up to the 12th floor. Then after work, I work out with weights for about 20 minutes and then walk 4.2 miles an hour for 30 minutes. I’ve lost 16 pounds in the last 4 months although I eat a lot of salad, I do manage a dessert most nights. You look wonderful. I agree, life is for living and I love beautiful looking food.

  20. Me, not so good either! But inspired by others.
Hope to catch up on moving this weekend and move more next week.

Wow you look great Cory and I love that beautiful painted armoire or whatever behind you. I actually lost 4 pounds after coming home from France. I did eat and drink, but walked my butt off in Paris too and other places. So I am trying to be more active here too. Paris did inspire me to eat but do it more artfully, meaning not cutting out cream or high calories as much as eating smaller portions and enjoying them more in a beautiful setting with a smaller glass of wine and only desert after the meal occasionally. Anyway thanks for the videos.
    Aloha,
    Liana

  22. Yay!Congrats Corey! Ten lbs here too, with not much change in activity. But now that I feel I can move easier, that will change. Walking, dancing, and free weights sound like the way to go. Good for the bones too! I put the trampoline back up, so if I want I can try to bounce that last 10 lbs off!

Zumba! I just started taking classes (at the Portuguese Hall here in Sacramento, of all places!) and you would love it! One hour goes by so fast!
