The antique dealer called me over to her stand, she laughed and said, “Do you know what this is?”

I guessed.

The dealer shook her head then told me what I didn’t know.

French Husband winked, “I beat I know where that is going!”
He got that right.

  10. Easy peasy! The top hooks up to the midpoint on the brassiรจre and the hook is inserted to the top of the girdle to keep the old girl from slipping below the belly. It is a girdle holder- upper!

  38. At first I thought it was a button hook or a tightener for skates or skis, but it looks too large. I am guessing it is for a fish scale. The hook goes into the fish’s mouth and the round eye attaches to the scale. Or perhaps an escargot puller for when the snail doesn’t want to come out?
    I think it is so pretty, so my fantasy self thinks it belong to the wee people. They had it attatched to a rope and would hang it on a star and swing. ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Since it has a ring on top, it must attach to another hook on the wall. Perhaps it acts as an occasional hanger for a small item like a bag or belt. Instead of hiding it in a drawer, why not hang your lovely silk nightgown from this hook?

    It’s a hook to push button(s) through the holes on shoes/boots.

    There would be a ribbon or cord on the loop end and the hook would attach to the zipper foot.
    So that if you were not fortunate enough to have
    a darling husband to zip the back of your evening
    Gown up…. Or a servant to assist you..voila ! You are zipped!

  50. It’s to tighten your shoes when they had high buttoned boot shoes and then you put that what you have on either a chain on your watch chain or a necklace around your neck. Probably the latter because this one looks so fem.
