How to be a Witch Everyday of the Year

Xx

Every year my mother has a Halloween Buffet for family and friends after trick or treating.

Every year my mother dresses up as a witch for Halloween.

My mother has fourteen grandchildren, the oldest is twenty three and the youngest is five.

Warren is five years old, and being five years old Halloween, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and the Tooth Fairy is a part of his world, a big part of his world.

Family

Warren asked my mother, his Grandmother, "Va what are you going to be for Halloween?"

My mother said, "Well, every year I am a witch. I have grey hair, I wear black and put on a hat."

"But Va," he looked perplexed, "You are always a witch."

My mother being the whole-hearted wonder woman that she is with children, laughed out loud knowing darn well what he meant- That since she wears black everyday, and has grey hair being a witch was not a costume but her everyday attire.

My Mother wants to recreate her costume for her last grandchild. That is what I love about my mom, children come first and their world is her world too.

  1. Your Mom is The Good Witch of Willows.
Halloween is not celebrated in Poland. I miss it.

  2. Lucky Corey! Hi Corey’s Mom from cold, freezing rain Canada…

  3. Trick or treating is, wisely, being postponed several days throughout the Northeast in the wake of Hurricane (“Superstorm”) Sandy. We came through the storm safe and sound, but for a little water in the basement that Farmboy Husband bailed out last night. But at least thus far we’ve lost none of the utilities. Hope everyone else here who was in Sandy’s wake is OK, too.

  4. How great of your mom to do a buffet to bring everyone together. My nephews just turned 13, so no more trick-or-treating for them, they will escort the little ones. I hope you have a fun Halloween!

  5. How fun for your mom at celebrate with each of her grand children. I would love to see your mom as a witch. Really she should dress as the angel inside of her.

    From a 5-year-old boy, that’s adorable.
A comment like that from any male older than 5? Smack him.

Happy Halloween Corey. Welcome Home to the wonders of Willows. I too, have returned to “homebase”, mine just a bit more permanent than yours. Recently moved back to Willows after residing in Chico for nearly 9 years. It is so wonderful to be around the corner from my parents again. My best to your Mom, enjoy your family and your stay. Happy Trick and Treating, Vicki M.
