Saturday Art Saves: Beautiful Inspiring Blogs

Every Saturday I focus on a different artist that I admire. From potters to painters, chefs to collectors, seamstress to songwriters, lifestyle to lovers… anyone who set the paintbrush, pastry brush, hands and heart on fire to create.

Those who inspire art to flow where it may…. Beautiful blogs who take and produce their own photos, ideas and inspiration who share gracefully with others.

  1. Wow, that school-desk from “The Frosted Gardner” reminds me of the old ones we had in junior high. They dated back to pre-WW II, so had inkwells in the holes so students could fill their fountain pens! Reportedly it was not unknown for a mean boy to bully the girl seated immediately ahead of him in the row by dipping the ends of her pigtails into the ink. Thank goodness for ballpoint pens!

  2. What fun blogs. I especially liked The Day Book and sent the link to my daughter. Thanks!

  3. WHY DONT YOU COME VISIT??
    _______
    Hi Christy
I wish you lived closer!!! I would LOVE to come visit you!!

  4. My favorite blogs are mostly interior design blogs, but here goes:
An Aesthete’s Lament, Greige Interior Design Ideas, the Corinthian Column Blog, Devoted Classicist, the Neo Lifestyle Blog, The Adventures of Tartanscot (a SF interior designer), Belle Vivir, and Hortibus House and Garden Tours (they go inside private estates and gardens all over Europe).
Also The Country Seat, a blog about rescuing stately homes in England.

  5. Love this post. Always looking for new blogs to enjoy. Oh Cory your blog is my favorite, hehe

  6. Apart from naturally your blog, and some needlework blogs, my favourite is The Art of Doing Stuff. It is a Canadian blog and very funny and informative. Loved the Our Vintage Home Love blog. Thank you for sharing these with us.

  7. Art of Doing Stuff has great tutorials and the writer has quite a good sense of humor. The Rickety Old Farmhouse is about a Scotsman, his wife the “Font” and their village in France-written like Peter Mayle. Just Something I Made is by Cathe Holden, lots of creative inspiration. Blind Pig and the Acorn is about a lady and her very musical family living in North Carolina. She shares great recipes and regional history. 66 Square Feet is by Marie Viljoen, who lives in NYC, has a rooftop garden (book is at publishers) with her husband and their cat DonEstorbo. Marie has been doing amazing blog entries since Sandy hit NYC.

  8. Except for yours, Corey, nearly all of other my favorite blogs in English are snarky and with a sociopolitical tilt — and thus likely to appeal to perhaps half of your readers, while offending the other half. Therefore, in the interests of peace and serenity I’ll refrain from listing them.

  9. P.S. For those who DO read Portuguese, here are some non-controversial blogs in the Azores:
Brum vineyard and winery on Terceira:
http://bagosdeuva.blogspot.com (lots of nice photos, even if you don’t know the language!)
    Poets/authors in the Azores:
    http://silvarosamaria.blogs.sapo.pt (Rosa Silva, Terceira)
http://oespolio.blogspot.com (Daniel de Sá, São Miguel)
http://vambertofreitas.wordpress.com (Vamberto Freitas, Terceira native living on São Miguel)

  10. One more blog — sponsored by the government of the Azores to promote the islands’ overseas communities [Comunidades], especially through their contemporary literature. About 1/3 of the postings are in English (including a handful of my translations), nearly all the rest in Portuguese. They post something new online nearly every day!

Thank you Corey for the mention in your blog. As I was catching with reading my fav blogs (yours being one), I was both surprised and thrilled to see the link. I had notice a big bump in views and wondered why ….. now I know. Thanks again.
