Lesson Number One: What Really Matters.

French engraving

What really matters?

The number one lesson I hope I have taught my children:

What matters is that they love, and are loved. And that they find happiness with who and where they are.

Everything after and with that falls into a fulfilling place of goodness.

& that is what really matters.

What lesson do you hope you have passed on?

  1. Corey, I believe you’ve taught Chelsea and Sacha this by example (not just through words).
A lesson I hope others have gotten from me is never to stop learning, because knowledge has the power to stamp out ignorance (which is used to suppress people’s freedom).

  2. I hope I have taught my children that love is the most important lesson.
I could not say it any better than you have.

  3. I hope to pass on that it is just as important to think ewith your heart as well as your head.

  4. I hope my babies (now grown ups) have learnt to be thankful and generous. They both have a good sense of humour which hopefully will always help them see the bright side of life.

  5. Beside love and happiness is being kind to others.

I don’t have children, but I hope that through my music and performances I have “passed on” the idea that we should all use our talents and skills for the greater good. To bring beauty, love, inspiration, hope and blessings to others.

  8. Oh, I’m gonna read all the comments you’ll get on that one – that will be interesting and revealing!
My mantra with family and children and friends are:
    create Love & Happiness
    being thankful
try to be generous and content
plant forgiveness instead of being judgemental
hava a backbone…. (integrity, as “jend’isère” said so well))
going through life with a smile
Everything is a gift – and I don’t mind when people think of me as a simpleton because I’m a smiling person – I bear it and grin. I am a v. happy person and try to pass this on – daily.

  9. The most important thing is to love and be loved. Never stop learning. Do not judge.

Beautiful sentiments, as always, Corey! I hope you are enjoying the beautiful state of California. I cherish the memories of the 3 years that I spent in northern California.
I hope I have passed on to my girls to be true to themselves, and to have compassion for others. To be gentle and kind to others and to all of God’s little creatures as well.
Wishing you a beautiful day! Enjoy the rest of the time with your family!!! I know you will!

  11. My mom taught me “It’s Nice to me Nice” and my father taught me “You only have ‘Your word’” and if you can’t be trusted you have nothing. So I hope to pass those two things on to my boys and everything else should fall into place.
Thank you for your thought provoking words of wisdom :~)

I taught my children, and now I want to teach my grands that Jesus is the way, the truth and the Life. Anyone who come to Me, (Jesus) I (Jesus) will not cast out.

  14. Sharon Penney-Morrison

I have taught compassion and kindness.
Love just naturally follows. I have taught them, what you see with your eyes may not be as it is.
The longer I live the more I learn. Life is amazing. Our Creator is amazing and full of surprises!

  15. I agree fully, love really is what you need.

  16. If you can leave the world a better place than the way you found it, in any small way, then your life has been a success.

  18. All of the comments of Love, kindness, respect, learning, beauty, sense of humor (joy),integrity, Jesus, are words right out of scripture. But none compare to the words my dad spoke as I was off to college. He said, “Don’t spend all your money on clothes.” Must have made an impression because I remember it so vividly. What a practical dad.

  19. I have told my children to find something that will make them want to get up in the morning and say to themselves, “I can’t wait to get started”!!!

  20. Corey….I’m hoping you will comment on the election results in the USA.

    Sorry.

  22. I have always encouraged my children and now my grandgirlies to be “life-long learners” and to “READ everyday”. I also want them to give to others by doing random acts of kindness. Thank you for sharing today, Corey!

  24. To give from the heart, even if it is as simple as filling a bird feeder for a housebound friend, to give of oneself is the greatest gift.
