Spellbound in Pasadena

Spellbound
[ˈspɛlˌbaʊnd]
adjective

I am. Utterly captivated by Spellbound.
The kindred spirits,
the teachers and activities,
the creative talent oozing from every amazing artistic person gathered,
Has given me a natural high feeling, and I don't plan on coming down.
The activities take place in a ball room at the Langhum Hotel.
A ball room with a ceiling and chandelier that is as beautiful as any castle I have ever seen.
Crown
The classes are incredible. The talent! The knowledge, techniques, style and most of all the encouragement to create, to express oneself… Oh kindred spirit you song in paved under my feet.
Debbie and Shea the creators and organizers of Spellbound made the crown above and the box below. I am not a crafter of paper, ribbon, glitter or thread but I am a taster of handmade items, and gatherer of inspiration. Spellbound offers a lifetime of both.

While in Pasadena I met up with a longtime friend, Alisa. I have known Alisa for over thirty years. Hard to believe. As I arrived a day early I spent it happily with Alisa in old town Pasadena.
Alisa's smile and generous soul had me glowing. She is the smartest person I know and if I ever had to pick a team she would be part of it.
Flower for your hair
At the opening dinner, under that gilded ceiling and massive chandelier we were given a handmade velvet and organza flower to wear, a stunning hand made bag full of crafting supplies and tools and books and goodies to that made me mouth Oh my God, an embarrassing amount of times.
Conversation
From morning to nightfall I have heard and seen stories being shared, dreams activated! From women all over, from every walk of life encouraging one another to believe in themselves, and follow their dreams. To do what they love and trust their talent to bring beauty to were they are.

Spellbound is
inspirational.
More than just a gathering of women creating it is a place where women are celebrating their passion to create!
Spellbound dinner bag
After dinner the tables were cleared and each of us were given supplies to create a dinner bag.
Beaded lace,
silk ribbon,
stamped linen,
and a felt bag.
Darling!
The gilded life
Have you ever been to a place where you were crowned beautiful and made to feel good about yourself?
Isn't that the gift we should give one another daily?

Tomorrow I am to speak during the luncheon, I am not nervous… I am in awe of the talent and inspiration set before me… I hope I can give back something for all the joy I have encountered.

It all sounds so perfectly magical and a place that my artist soul could use about now. Seeing through your eyes and words makes that even more clear – if it’s an annual event I need to start saving now for next time. I hope someone will be video taping you speaking to the crowd for those of us who couldn’t be there to hear, what I know, will be a most inspirational speech.
    Enjoy! Enjoy!

  2. Sometimes tears of joy don’t have to be explained at all.

Would have loved to go to this event… Pasadena is a mere 25 minutes away… But it was so outrageously expensive… Even for one day it was almost $300… Too bad. I would have loved it but only for the elite.

    No, it is fine mesh.

  31. Tongue in Cheek

My cousin who took the class said it is lining for the washing machine that you can buy at the hardware store were it is a fraction of the cost of how much it is at the craft shops.
In the class they covered the mesh with fine glass glitter.
