No Song and Dance, because he is Feeling Good

Song and Dance

I woke up this morning hoping that the tossing, turning and moaning of last night meant he wasn't feeling good…

Ha!

No song and dance routine of happiness here. I mean I am happy, really happy, honestly happy that he is feeling well. But that means skiing is on again. Oh how does one sing "Happy" with frozen toes and a red nose?

I leaned over the pillow and asked, "How do you feel this morning?"

His faint smile meant, we are going.

Bon sign

Sacha has been packed since time began.

He LOVES to ski. Fast.

Chelsea is ready but has a nine page thingy to do for school, so someone will be sitting with me by the fire… for a moment or two.

I am taking a new cookbook "PLENTY" that Jill (a blog reader and friend of mine) sent me for Christmas… cooking is on my agenda since skiing is not. Also I plan to read my cousin Francobolla's partner's new book, "Dying Words."

French Husband isn't packed… but that doesn't mean anything, he never is, and he manages to fly by the seat of hs pants since that is all he ever packs. And now he doesn't need a razor either.

Oh the joys of living with a bushy face pretend to be wild man.

Feeling good

So here he is drinking a mixture of stuff to ease the bug, and there I am looking ever so thrilled. Reeking happiness.

I hear it is sunny in the mountains…

  1. Happy New Year, Corey!

  2. Last two days I’m thinking that I would like to go skiing. It most likely won’t happen this winter since the closest slop is in Korea and I don’t like going there (it is too crowded) … so I’ll keep dreaming about going to Europe or North America next winter 🙁 Your plan to sit by the fire with a book is lovely, Corey.

  3. Glad that he is well, sorry for you that you have to endure the cold, happy to know that you will have company and a couple of good books. Seize the day, enjoy the moment!

  4. Oh my yes! You do look thrilled! NOT!
Gracious. A picture of Corey, not smiling!
“Plenty” sounds interesting and my library has it. I will soon. Thank you.
    Happy New Year, Dear One!

  5. …the ebb and flow of a marriage! Enjoy the fact he is happy and healthy!

  6. Frozen toes, I am not a fan of. I’ve never been skiing, but I’ll try (almost) anything once. However, I’d rather cozy up with a recipe book I do believe! 🙂

  7. too cute. He sure recovered quickly. What potion did he take???? I get a simple cold and I’m out for 2 weeks!!!
Have a fun day – enjoy the scenery – it must be beautiful. Think of us stuck in office buildings in the middle of a city. 🙁

  8. I read the synopsis of “Dying Words”. It sounds wonderful and wise – if that is even close to appropriately describing it.
Enjoy your day at the slopes (as best you can)!

  9. Take your camera and snap all the beauty of the mountains in winter. Looking forward to seeing it all through your eyes. Enjoy your reading, by a nice fire I hope! I pray everyone has a good time and comes back safe.

  10. Wear long underwear :-))) Stay inside the lodge as much as possibl (when not photographing). Eat Raclette. Drink hot chocolate.

  11. well your options sure sound lovely-in the quiet company of your daughter, your cookbook and your reading book -a fire- a lodge- a warm/hot drink and a serene back drop…ENJOY-how long is the skication going to last ….

  12. Enjoy that hot cocoa indoors and time with Chelsea!

  13. Carolyn Mallin

Enjoy the beauty that will be surrounding you. I’ve never been on ski’s in my life but a lodge, book’s and a constant flow of hot chocolate sounds delightful.

  14. Wow that’s some fast recovery, must not have been the flu! Take lots of nice photos Corey and stay warm…hey it’s a whopping 2 degrees out here and that’s with the sun shining!

  15. I have that cookbook!

  16. I’m not much of a skier anymore, mostly because I don’t like frozentiles – though I am a big fan of après ski and all it’s hot buttered rum delisciousness.. But. I just came back from a wonderful week in Steamboat Springs. A small mountain town in Colorado. I discovered snowshoeing! It’s like walking or relatively easy hiking with snow shoes. No skis, no ski boots and not once was I cold! Just walking through a magical winter wonderland listening to the sound of snow covered quiet. Watching birds skitter by and an elk peek around a tree. 🙂

  17. BBrrrr…I am with you by the fire, reading.

  18. Ed in Willows

Remember……”move more”. Be a snow bunny.

  19. Reeking happiness, that made me laugh. Where do you all go skiing? How long does it take you to get there?

  20. Hi D
We are in VARS, the French Alps, my mother in law has an apartment on the slopes. I have a great view!
    It takes us three hours.

  21. Hopping around the fire!

  22. Isn’t it the best!!

  23. Yann is so lucky to have had such a speedy recovery! I’ve been sick with the flu all week and still have a fever 🙁 But the fire is cozy and I’m enjoying my book, “the Newlyweds”. Thinking of you as I put on another log!

  24. Tit for tat, Corey dear. Just remember your sacrifice on the sky trip the next time French Husband is patiently lugging something home from a mad Broconte trip.

  25. Happy skiing trip! I spent New Year’s Eve playing my harp at a historic lodge in Northern, Northern, Northern Minnesota. I took my Mom as my date. She wanted to build a fire on the shore. We shivered through about 15 minutes of it an discovered that our champagne had frozen to slush!
    It was -9 Farenheit.
Brrr…so you can do it, Corey!

  26. Perhaps there is a brocante in the skiing village? Dying Words is now on my list of books to read. I have been tending my stroke stricken Dad for 4 weeks. While the thought of him no longer being with us, is a concept I keep running from, the thought of my own mortality and what mark I will leave behind has been rumbling around in my brain. I hope that Franobolla’s partner is at peace and in no pain. xoxo

  27. C, I followed your link and that cookbook looks delicious – please let us know when you try one of the recipes. Stay warm hopping by the fire.

  28. *rofl*
Sorry, I know, I should be full of empathy for yours truly. It’s the last picture that made me laugh out loud, really. I mean, FH looks like a mountain lion ready to roar (or charge down the hill), that was already funny. Funny enough for a smile. Yet, Little You, in the background, your body language expressing misery, the juxtaposition of those two characters, I could not help myself. Alright, I apologize, I empathize, I hope you are able to get lost in the books by a roaring fire, not even thinking about the cold snow out there!

  29. I know! Pretend that you have caught Sacha’s cold and F.H. flu. (darn the luck) Put your thermometer in your morning coffee.

  30. I have it too and have made some very tasty meals from it.
    Dying words is wonderful too.
    Happy New Year.

  31. That picture says it all! Beauty and the Beast I think. Enjoy your cookbook.

  32. Enjoy your trip, however you must 🙂 and happy reading!

  33. Enjoy yourselves, and have a mug of cocoa for us.

  34. Enjoy reading Plenty, I bought it for my daughter for Christmas and she has promised to make me something from it soon. Are you going to ski at all Corey, or do you not ski? Have loads of fun whatever you do.

  35. oops…that didn’t post…
    2nd try….
Corey, you are too funny!! French Husband has an amazing immune system! I can sympathize, as my own French (albeit Canadian) Husband used to be a ski instructor, actually, used to be the head of a ski school, so the kids have been converted into skiers. Fast ones. I’m not bad, but I am… slow. And worry about knees, and fitting into ski pants. Still, we would switch with you in a nanosecond if we could — there is no good skiing anywhere near us, not like there used to be around Geneva! Drink in the beauty and the fresh air, and stop for lots of pictures!

  36. I gave up skiing to become a snow bunny, welcome to our ranks! xxpeggybraswelldesign.com

  37. I love what you say!I would feel the same way!!!!!!!!I DONT SKI EITHER!But the men in my life do!In fact, one SON this year is a ski instructor at HOMEWOOD in LAKE TAHOE!

  38. teresa Cesario

That was the funniest post of all. I’ve been in that situation so many times with my husband and daughter.
hoping something would save me from being out of my comfort zone…hahaha Corey! LOVE the picture of you and him..when I saw you in the background..I saw myself….so funny!!
