Garcon Francais in Pink Calecon (Boy in Pink Boxers)

Betty In Paris from Olive Us on Vimeo.

My cousin FrancaBolla (not her real name, though her very real name here on my blog,) sent me this link yesterday as a matter of cheer.

Merci! Betty in Paris, it is sweet. It brought cheer.

Meanwhile back to yesterday's questions… Chelsea, who I have ropped into helping me respond to them.

Mainly because:

1) Chelsea is of a younger French generation with a different take on France, then I have.

2) France is and has changed in the last twenty five years since I have been living here,

3) Chelsea and I have been talking too much, about that, and not putting it down on the blog…

So while we get it together for tomorrow's blog, there is Betty in Paris to watch and one question answered:

A question asked by Paula from New Mexico….

What type undies do French men wear?

Boxer L\'Amoureux Rose Garรงon Franรงais

Well, um my French guys wear these…. Free guns and Boxers too.

The pink, umm, men's underwear in French are called "Calecons",

The one above says on the waistband:

French Boy.

  1. Adorable video. It makes me want to knit that red hat!

  2. No better way to describe this than Delightful! What a lovely way to start the morning. And who doesn’t love to see a child skipping… or a man whistling, for that matter. Thanks.

  3. what a great idea and perspective to our burning questions about life over there in beautiful ever changing france!

This pink boys garment reminds me of a Bepto-Bismol commercial I recently watched:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edaHeq4aq2o
(overall, it’s a strange association, I know, but so is that commercial – pretty senseless, imo). ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. Loved the video AND the pink Calecons. Is it too late to ask a question? When do French children start school? Is kindergarten mandatory?

‘Betty In Paris’…. So precious. Thank you for sharing, Dear One.
Mmmmmm, are you feeling a wee bit down? Reading between the words/lines, I get that feeling… If so, may it pass swiftly, and let you be back to being your usual Corey.
    Please…

  9. Love the video. Thank you, FrancaBolla, for sharing it for all of us to enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚
Looking forward to the answers from you and Chelsea. Does Chelsea have a blog of her own?

The video is a-dor-able. My French husband wore a “slip”, a speedo-like underwear, in the 1960’s. Adapted to Jockeys here in the US. He had a pink shirt, lovely pink tie and even a pinkish suit (not worn together) and was very particular about his clothes. Can’t say the same about some of his brothers.

    Love it!! Thanks for sharing!!

I’m running out the door and seeking the highest hill in San Francisco to strike the ‘Eiffel’
You, Corey Amaro, make me want to check the airfare to France daily.
And I thank you for that…xo

  13. Loved “Betty In Paris”. She had a good time.

Great video, very charming! Those pink undies look great on young guys, but older ones….? Hmm, not so sure ๐Ÿ™‚

For a nanosecond, when my name popped up at the top of your post, I thought I was in trouble. I won’t bore you with the psychoanalysis behind the why.
A bit of back story on the video for you Francophiles: Betty’s mother, the indefatigable Gabrielle Blair, is the person behind the blog, www.designmom.com. About 18 months ago, Gabrielle and her husband moved their family to a country house about 3 hours outside of Paris. Six kids … ages 12 to 9 months. She moved them … without knowing where they’d live. Just typing that exhausts me. Anyway, if you’re interested in how they’ve fared (very, very well, BTW) check out her site.

  22. The video is so dear! I think you’ve started a “macho pink” theme. Threes a charm. One more hunk with a pink accessory!

I have always said ” It takes a real man to wear pink”….Now I have revised that….”It takes a real man, starting as a boy, to wear pink”?? lol….Too finny…!

  25. Peggy Braswell

Fabulous Video!from one Francophile to another, I am going to get him some pink Calecons. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com

  26. Melinda V from SF

Oooh that video reminded me of our first trip to Paris with our twin daughters when they were 5. One daughter wouldn’t go anywhere without her red beret. She’ll be 13 soon. Sniff.
I can vouch for French guys wearing FreeGun undies. We are hosting a 16 yo boy for the school year. I do his laundry. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  27. 24/7 in France

The video is just adorable and makes me “homesick” for Paris. My French husband wears calecons and has a pink tie and had a pink shirt, so has no complex about wearing this color.

  28. Rae Hilhorst

Thank you, that video was just delightful, bought a tear to my eye. As did the pink Boxers,. xxx Rae

  29. Patti Lloyd

My husband would so ummm Hot in pink! I cannot convince him of that…hooray for the french men who have no fear!

  30. Patti Penelope

My heart is spinning knowing that soon I will be that little girl..first time in Paris! Perhaps a frenchman will inspire my husband to wear pink!

  31. Chico Sue

I think Sweet Betty can make any day a better one. And as for the calecons, I can only manage to say OO-LA and LA!!!

  32. Teddee Grace

Loved the video…and the photo!…have tried to find the music from the video on Amazon with no luck. Any idea where I might be able to buy the CD?

  33. Love this video and the underwear! May buy a pair for my son. He sports a pink shirt and tie – might as well have the matching underwear! He likes the French girls at school. Told me that one kissed him on the cheek when he told her he loved her accent. His mother’s son. I’m with Laurie…checking that airfare on a regular basis!

  34. wonderful, wonderful video – but honestly, who on earth wants to know what your guys wearing under his pants? What is FH saying if you display such intimate details? ๐Ÿ™‚

  35. Love the pink calecons! My boy wears les slips de Spiderman! (pronounced — spee-dr-man).

  36. Loved Betty in Paris…..and loved her red socks and red hat. Can’t see the Aussie guys in my family wearing pink!
