Discovering Our New Neighborhood

Our apartment is in a neighborhood that is not touristic. My most favorite brocante is literally fifteen minutes away on foot.
At the turn of the centtury, the neighborhood was were many artists had their studios, Monet and Renoir to name a few.
The only thing that has changed at the restaurant on the corner is the name and clientale. The inside is the same, a rare treat in a town where chic is mode.
This neighborhood reminds me of Paris twenty years ago, and that feels like home.

Discovering Our New Neighborhood

A restaurant in the neighborhood that we like.

Called Les Frangines. For starters I had pumpkin soup with chestnuts and spice bread croutons. Delicious.

  7. I can’t even imagine having a place in the same neighborhood that was home to the studios of Monet and Renoir…so romantic! And, if the walls inside that restaurant could talk. Those are some wonderful captures of your family in there, it must have been so much fun to be there in person and just let the imagination wander.

I love the neighborhood – Les Frangines Restaurant looks like a delightful Parisian bistro. I can’t wait to see what other places you discover in your journey.

  9. Swooning already, just at the mention of Paris 20 years ago. I can remember Paris 38 years ago and then again when I was very young. So this is exciting. 15 minutes from the brocante..then the location is perfect! Have a blessed weekend.. xo marlis

  13. Wait. What did I miss? Is this your old Paris apt that you are fixing up or a new one you have acquired? You’re not moving are you? Sorry, I can’t find a previous post to help me figure this out. I usually stay ‘au courant’

  14. Can’t wait to hear more about the neighborhood. As an artist, hearing that Monet and Renoir lived there is exciting. To walk where they walked and see what they saw, amazing.
Also, thank you, for your kind note filled with a surprise, loved it.
    Have a great weekend. d

  19. Who would order tea when you can order whipping cream with a side of chocolate?!! French husband look very dignified with the beard. 🙂 I love the zinc bar and the picture frames on the wall. Have a beautiful weekend. I hope a little brocante visit is on the agenda.

Such bars evoke inspiration. Could you imagine what kind of bland art Monet and his friends would have produced if they had met at a Starbucks?
