When in Paris walk.
Walk without a map.
Hope to get lost, then you will discover.
Stop often, look around. Look up.
Take note of the passage of time that is ever present.
Look for one color, or one sign, or one flavor, or one object.
One of my favorite thing to do in Paris is to walk, on the backstreets, from morning till night.
Stopping at cafes, bistros, bakeries, and restaurants.
Paris has many keys.
Many keys. Pick one each day let it lead you.
Today our key is the brocante.
Yesterday it was floor and tile shops.
The day before hot chocolate and wine.
One of the bakeries by our apartment.
The old painted glass is from the 1800s.
I noticed red.
And the word Copains (friends) written above bottles of wine, down the street at a local bistro, from our apartment.
Copains waiting to be met.
Tonton (a sweet nickname for the word "Uncle") Restaurant by our apartment.
Delicious, simple and very French.
The exterior and interior haven't changed since the 1920s.
Inviting as usual.
Hand painted faux brick wall.
Three floors!
Details worth noticing.
Outdoor art gallery and inspiration.
Amongst the brick buildings, at the street brocante, an old painting hangs from a tree.
Red doors.
A garage entrance.
When in Paris I like to have Onion Soup, the vegetarian broth version.
A zinc horse head meant one thing.
Twenty five years ago I noticed them often.
Now they stand alone.
Above a doorway beauty looks down.
When in Paris sit at a cafe, one after another.
A friend once said to me, "My favorite thing to do is Paris is the cafes."
Do the cafes… I get it.
Typical signs in Paris.
Nothing blue about Paris, except the sky these days.
What is your neighborhood like?
