The Holiness of Petal and Thorn

La vie en rose

The day went by,

unfolding as it may,

which wasn't my own.

I had ideas that did not bloom:

The rain prevented the brocante,

I burnt the chocolate cake,

and had thoughts that circled around looking for a way out.

Sacha was home, stressing out about things I could not change.

French Husband was in need of a long sleep on a beach with distant sounds to lull him.

Chelsea is in Casablanca attending a wedding…  her photos via Facebook made me wander far, wishing I could be there too.

The day unfolded, petal by petal, with a thorn or two, reminding me to breath in that which is at hand and honor it for what it is…

Take heart Corey…spring arrives in 2 more days and everything will look up! Of course here in New England another big snow storm is lurking around the bend and the frigid temps have kept me from starting my daily walks again… 🙂

  2. Goodness, Corey, are we living in a parallel universe? Thank God for your written words and that my life seems to mirror yours – it really gives me a sense of peace. Wish I could turn it around for you, but you are 6 hours ahead of me! You are such a blessing!

“Here’s looking at you kid”… Bogart’s comment could bring you a smile as you think of Casablanca to perk up a little lull in your lovely life.

  5. After being annoyed at a boy that is not doing his homework all weekend; we did have a tickle fight tonight.
It felt good to laugh. You nailed it!

  6. Your words are a breath of spring.
    Thank you, Corey.

  7. I pricked myself on a few thorns today, but then my sweetie brought home fries and tartar sauce. Amazing how a little grease makes me forget about the thorns. Take heart, spring is slowly moving around the globe. The daffodils are budded and I am watching their progress.

Beautiful words…sometimes we lose sight that breathing alone, is a miracle…we don’t even think about it and it happens, on and on… 🙂

  11. Honoring what is, is a choice that I need to consciously make more often.

Ohhhh, a wedding in Casablanca sounds like the ultimate in ROMANCE to me!

Einstein said “There are only two ways to live your life; one, as if nothing is a MIRACLE, the other as if everything is.” It feels good to remember those words when the thorns appear. Thank you for reminding me to live by those words. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com

My day was also not going so well yesterday, so I needed to take a deep breath too – thanks for the reminder!

  16. So true, some days are just like that. At least we can pay attention to the roses.

How often do I make myself dissatisfied, by not simply accepting things as they are … even if only “for now” or until a shift begins to happen … when it’s ready … when it’s time …
