Easter Sunday

preparing for Easter

Around the table they sat, my mother in law, French Husband, Sacha, Chelsea and Mr. Espresso. Weaving their stories into each others hearts.

I listened as I prepared lunch.

Between their chatter and stuffing the mushrooms I felt a surge of joy, the type of joy that makes walking on water seem possible. The type of joy that makes me feel something beyond the here and now.

Under my breath I whispered, "Thank you."

Joyous Easter today, tomorrow and whatever may come.

…the one prayer we all know by heart,
    Thank you, God.
    Thank you.

  12. A little neighbor girl told me the other day that I was so “rich”. This puzzled me as we live simply in a tiny home. When asked what she meant, she replied, “You have so many beautiful tulips and flowers and Ms. Kitty and Bobcat”. I smiled and thought, yes, and you for a neighbor who reminds me of my riches. Stopping to pause and be grateful for what I have is a daily occurance, but sometimes I need to be reminded of the things others value that I take for granted. Happy Easter!

  13. I spoke this morning about that type of joy and I said that it is the Holy Spirit. I said that the Holy Spirit is the amouse bouche a little foretaste of what life eternal will be like.

  16. This morning at Easter mass and right after communion I was engulfed in a feeling of blessing and grace…tears flowed because the love of God was so strong. After mass DH asked what happened and all I could say is I felt God’s love pouring out like a tidal wave. I’m still feeling it. Joyous Easter to you and your family.

  17. I forget how blessed I am until I read your words. When life is a bit difficult it is easy to forget. God bless Corey.

  18. Corey, Joyeuse Pacques! I do like the French version so much better. Joyful! I too was blessed with family and family chatter and the joyful noises of the children. Even though the first batch of hollandaise separated, I made it too early, drats, and I was making another successful batch.. I, like you was overcome by gratitude. hugs.. have a blessed week.

  19. That is joyesuses.. bad typo!

  20. Gratitude.
Today’s warm and happy moments so far: a long phone call with my Mom who was in a good mood, hearing the church bells ringing a block away (I called Mom back and put the phone on speaker so she could hear th bells too). Watching the Bible miniseries. The nextdoor neighbors had an Easter egg hunt party for the kids on the block with lots of giggling and laughing. Wonderful neighbor boy came to mow the lawn after we chatted for bit. Mmm the smell of freshly mown grass…that I didn’t have to mow! Happy Easter to everyone.

  21. A very blessed Easter to you and yours Corey.

  24. I am spending Easter with my family in the US this year, and couldn’t help but think about the cultural differences between Americans and the French, especially at mealtime, during my visit. My daughter asked me if I feel more American or French and I answered, “an odd mix of both, depending on the situation” – definitely more French at mealtime though 🙂

  25. It sounds like one of those moments I always wish that I could bottle up and save.
